You were informed - you didn't read it.
How do you think businesses who have higher costs and lower volume will survive? Or do you think the pain should all be someone else's and none yours.
My appointment is approaching - I never even asked what the price would be and will pay whatever she asks. If she HASN'T put the price up a good chunk, I will be tipping as if she had. I have missed 2-3 appointments, it will even out anyway.
I know this is a money saving site, but paying what's fair is also a principle surely and not trying to pass every single increased cost in a changed model onto someone else. Sorry OP but seen a few of these and its annoying me - someone even whinging about £2. Some people seem deliberately blind to the economic impact on others of the measures we are living under.

@warby68 i completely agree, this OP and public in general complaining about costs rising is so unfair and selfish.
I am self employed and, like all other businesses large and small, my costs have risen and consumer complaints and lack of understanding has saddened me, i would have thought the same public spirit shown during all the restrictions might have continued after - clearly not, we're right back to the dog-eat-dog, hardnosed world we lived in before 🙄
Will people stop buying, in general, because retailers prices have risen due to the covid fallout - of course not but it's easier to knock certain trades/professions 😣0 -
The issue isn’t the cost rising, the issue is not being informed of it.Catsacor said:@warby68 i completely agree, this OP and public in general complaining about costs rising is so unfair and selfish. There are a lot of people who have lost jobs and also taken a significant decrease in their take home pay, I’ve yet to see an employer offering a 20% uplift in pay now they’re returning to work!My hairdresser only takes cash, I’ve not been back as I’m in no rush and assume others are in much greater need, but if she suddenly stuck an extra £10 on the end, it would be very embarrassing as I go to the cash machine and get it out on the way.Although maybe this will mean they’ve also got a card machine 🤞🤞🤞0 -

I agree you should be forewarned but perhaps you should also enquire yourself if its an issue - prices could go up anytime for other reasons.0 -

Why would I want my hair cut by a cowboy trader anyway when I already have one who doesn't partake in any unfair or prohibited trading practices? It would be like swapping a brand new bentley for a clapped out clio.jjames1985 said:
A good way to never get a hair cut from that hairdressers again.unholyangel said:Breach of CCRs. Traders need to tell you the total inclusive price before you are bound by the contract - this applies as much for on-premises contract as it does distance or off-premises. Normally a contract with a hairdresser would be on-premises at their salon or off-premises in your home - so unsure if this might be distance, depending on when the contract became binding.
You've also misunderstood my post. There is nothing wrong with the trader charging extra. But to comply with their legal obligations, they need to give their consumers an inclusive price. If you don't like that then perhaps you should lobby to have UK consumer rights changed. I didn't write them, so don't shoot the messenger. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride1 -
I think this is the way any business that is now capacity limited will be in the foreseeable future - we just have to accept that prices will go up and that we have to pay a bit extra to do the things that we want to do and enjoy doing.
Bear in mind - very few of these are essential businesses, we did without them for 12(?) weeks and they could almost be considered as a "luxury" now0 -
Thank you all
I just wanted some views on the subject but just to clarify I booked via an app on my phone where the cost quoted did not include the additional 20% the salon was the busiest I’ve known it since going for a couple of years, being up front when taking peoples money is an absolute must in my experience.0 -
The cost of the PPE not being added when booking through an app is correct. I booked my appointment in exactly the same way and the cost wasn't added. Had you read the email then you would have known about the extra cost.

You are surprised a salon was busy after being closed for over 3 months ?peaceandbliss said:Thank you all
