Admiral car insurance want money from my partner

Hi all
My partner and i were in a crash which resulted in the person behind hitting us on tbe back of tbe car. The other drivwr admitted it was hia fault.

My partner ia trying to sort the claim out. He had an email saying the car insurwnce will be cancled and tjey want 300 quid from him for canceling it. It was another department who told the other to cancel it.

This does not seem right when he is not getting anything from the payment. It wasnt his fault and yet tjeu are charging him money.

Is this right. We are streased oit as we only have a week to find a new car as he has tje courtsey car for a week from confirmation of write off if tbey can find his car.

What can we do regarding this charge aa it doesnt seem.right.

So you "crashed" into something and the car behind hit you - more details please?
the £300 could be your excess, if the cars a write off the policy will be cancelled.
Is this Fully compy or 3rd party?

The conditions on your excess being waived is normally more complex than simply you saying a third party hit you else every person that clips a bollard or wall when parking would claim an unknown third party hit their parked car and there is no CCTV in the car park.

Back in my day we were generous and would waive the excess in a clear non-fault accident where the Third Party's full details have been provided including their insurance. Even then a notable proportion ended up being a loss to my employers as the TP details turned out to be bogus or their insurance had been voided etc. I know some other insurers won't waive it until they have confirmation of insurance in place and no dispute on liability.

If the policy is being terminated due to the car being a total loss then the monies could also be the outstanding premium but this is often deducted from the settlement rather than being charged separately. The fact the car hasn't been inspected yet obviously throws this in doubt and it could be indemnity checks have thrown up concerns that he wasn't honest when taking out the policy.

Who organised removing the car from the s scene? The police usually contact a local breakdown service to collect it if it cannot be driven away.

None of this makes sense to me
If the car is being repaired then the policy is not cancelled and then £300 may be owed for the excess  but usually to the repairing garage
If the car is written off why does the OP have to pay anyone £300 ?
