Laptop was damaged either in transit or at Dell

Seriously you listed something on eBay that you didn’t even have, that’s going to be expensive. You obviously have all your FVFs to pay plus if buyer had paid by PayPal and you have refunded then you also have PayPal fees to pay in full.ChDarcy said:
I know what you're saying, but trust me, there was no damage done from my end. Hell, I had it listed on eBay WHILST it was being "fixed", as I assumed that it would've been sent back to me before the listing ended. Funny thing that it sold for £275. Now it's worth £0.Diamandis said:Well there's no real way to say if there's water damage without looking inside the laptop. You don't really know if it had water damage or not when it was shipped to them. You could ask for details on the water damage. If it's caused corrosion inside it's unlikely to have been recent.

Obviously, I put too much faith in Dell.soolin said:

I was told that I would receive the system back in 3-7 days.
I didn't foresee it being shipwrecked on the Titanic.0 -
Me too on the basis that in 20 years of buying Dell warranties I have never known Dell pro support to require anything to be sent offsite but they have always sent an engineer come onsite and fixThe_Rainmaker said:My nose is twitching.

Yes. Because you're obviously a deity who know and sees all.The_Rainmaker said:My nose is twitching.
See? That's what wrong with society these days, the "cancel culture" and the "guilty till proven innocent" thing.
Unless you can help me, keep your creepy and snide remarks to yourself.
Thank you.0 -

People often judge others by their own standards and morals. It's the mirroring effect.The_Rainmaker said:My nose is twitching.
Take that as you will.
If you're calling into question my eBay tale - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/383600118804
Go to the above link and contact the seller. Chances are you'll be talking to me.
I don't give a crap about the money. That's not why I'm here.
It's not about money. It's not exactly a fortune. I could go out and buy a replacement right now if I wanted to. It's about principle. I know that that's a rare trait nowadays.
If anyone else has a snide and cowardly remark, feel feel to PM me... If this forum has such a facility.

Ever heard of Covid-19? You know, the Global pandemic? Social distancing? It's weird that you didn't think about that.Jumblebumble said:

Are you on Earth?
Yeah. I don't want an engineer in my house if it's not life or death.
If the World was in a better place, yes, I would've requested my laptop be repaired in my house.
All this suspicion is weird. Do you want me to upload all the correspondence from Dell and I onto Dropbox?
Bloody hell.0 -
I understand that you believe the damage wasn't done in your possession - but you need to see it from Dell's side; I worked in the repairs team of a large retailer and we'd have customers absolutely swear blind the item had never been near water... then we'd open it and it stunk of wine / beer / Coke.
I wish you the best of luck - all you can do is keep complaining and work your way up the ladder if you're dead-set it wasn't you.2 -
Thank you very much for that.mattyprice4004 said:I understand that you believe the damage wasn't done in your possession - but you need to see it from Dell's side; I worked in the repairs team of a large retailer and we'd have customers absolutely swear blind the item had never been near water... then we'd open it and it stunk of wine / beer / Coke.

Yeah. I get it. People, generally, are fine with telling little white lies. However, I work at my laptop, so drinking/eating whilst the computer it is counter-productive.
What do you think are my chances? Surely Dell can raise the issue with UPS? As it may have happened in transit.
The way that is now, I don't want the laptop back, not am I willing to pay to get it repaired. I'm willing to play the long game.
Thank you very much.
PS: It's sad, we're all consumers and one community, so we should all be supporting one another, but some people want to chine in for a wee bit of attention.0 -
The worst one I opened up had had milk spilled on it, but they didn't bring it in right away, they put it away in a cupboard for weeks or months. The smell and furry growth was something else. Can't decide if it was worse that the one I opened to find maggots crawling around inside though.mattyprice4004 said:I understand that you believe the damage wasn't done in your possession - but you need to see it from Dell's side; I worked in the repairs team of a large retailer and we'd have customers absolutely swear blind the item had never been near water... then we'd open it and it stunk of wine / beer / Coke.

Obviously in both situations they swore blind they hadn't done anything and it had to be a manufacturing fault.0
