Dentist apt booked for next week, not too fussed i have had to wait as it isnt causing any pain.
Today has been busy I have done the weekly shop (within budget), did a balance transfer on one of the credit cards so that should all go through within the next few days and re-done the budget to incorporate the new price we will be paying for our internet, landline and tv.
I got a random refund from creation, £27.24 - no idea why as my loan with them finished in April and i haven't received any letters and there is nothing on the account when i log on so it's a mystery.
I should also be getting a £127 refund for an event that was cancelled due to covid and they decided to not reschedule - pay that straight to the credit card.
The only bad thing today is getting a bus lane ticket through the post, hubby needs to pay more attention and that's £30 down the drain :(

Work has been so busy this week, can't complain though as it makes the days go faster.

Refunds came through and went straight into a little savings pot, its a miscellaneous pot but i will stick them towards the credit card at the end of the month.

Credit card balance transfer is all done which is great, the fee is less than 2 months interest so definitely saving money there.

I am still undecided about which credit card to tackle next, need to crunch some more numbers.

I still need to do energy comparison as the provider i am with now is definitely not the cheapest anymore.

One of the kids swimming lessons is going up in price which is annoying as i will have to re-jig my budget so i can save adequately for them. It isnt going up much but it is still annoying and they also didn't give us a huge amount of notice :(

I don't have much planned for the weekend, kids activities and nothing much else. Not that there is much else we can do because of Tier 2 restrictions.
I do need to go round the house and write a list of little jobs that need doing, silly things like lightbulbs that have blown and need replacing as it's getting dark earlier now so will need the extra light.
My work sent an email out to all employees about the working from home tax relief and how we should all claim it so i will also look into that.

I am so rubbish at keeping this updated, i have been so busy at work and home life seems to be super busy too i haven't had any time until now to do what i have wanted/ needed to do.

I did the energy comparison and switched saving me £15.98 a month so I am very happy with that. I am also in a bit of credit with my old supplier so will get that back at some point.

My sim only contract is up for renewal in a week and i am a little limited with a switch because of the network coverage in my area but i will definitely be able to get something cheaper. I rarely use any data so i might cut that right down and the saving should be good (not that i pay a huge amount at the moment)

I did the working from home tax relief, not huge but every £ helps. This month is meant to be pay review month but i have been paid and heard nothing so guess they aren't doing it this month/ year which is fine but letting us know would be nice.

I got the first credit card statement for the new credit card that I did a balance transfer on so have now re-done my spreadsheets to include that plus the increase in kids activities.
I also did my snowball calculator on stoozing (which i think is actually an avalanche calculator) and it is telling me to pay off a credit card that has a 2.5k balance which is still on 0% until June. This would definitely be the highest interest rate if it is not paid off by June so i am guessing that is why.

I am so behind with Christmas this year and I am struggling with what to buy people even with a present limit / budget agreement in place.

  • You're doing so well. Do any of your cards currently have interest on them? If so I would pay extra towards that and just make sure for your 0% one you pay off enough each month that be cleared by time it ends. It's good you got another balance transfer as now the payments can go towards actually paying debt rather than interest.

    Thank you.
So there are 8 credit cards. 3 are at 0% , one runs out Jan 21, the next one June 21 and the other July 22.

The one that finishes in June has an awful rate as it was a money transfer card as i had a 3.5k overdraft that needed to go.
I could clear that in 5 months but just seems alien to me that i am paying just above minimum on the others and chucking all the extra at the 0%.
I guess it doesn't really matter as long as they all go.
I have another card that was cleared so hoping i can get another 0% bt offer.

  • How much would you need to pay per month to have it cleared by July 2021? Does that leave you any spare to go towards the Jan 2021?. I'd have the July 22 one as min payment until the others are cleared.

It would be just under 250 so i could pay that to that and then the extra could go to the Jan 21.

The Jan 21 balance also has different amounts and different times when the 0% runs out but the apr will be just over 20% which isnt great but the July 21 is 29.55% so that definitely needs to go and i guess thats why the calculators tell me that is the next one to tackle.
