Thanks for the good info. Electronic cars just seems a natural progression. I'm gonna keep adding to it. Nothing major. I don't have the money to go big but enough to make something interesting in 5-10 years.adindas said:Retireby40 said:NIO could be one to look out for. China's plan to have 20-25% of all cars electric by 2025.
NIO also have been helped by the Chinese government who are clearly interested in helping cut pollution.
Its risky and there's their annual announcement on 9th January which could see a little movement. That's probably already been priced into the stock already.
We have seen whats happened with Tesla. Even if NIO stock doubled from around 46.0 it wouldn't be a bad return.January 9, 2021 is NIO day. one of the catalyst that might move the price further.I started buying NIO @ September 2020 when it was $17.05. And I keep Dollar Cost Avareging it (DCA). I will be adding my position If I could get it around $40-$45, looking into their potential. Like Tesla this is one of my ironhold stock that I will never sell it. NIO Price target from CNN and WSJ
and from WSJ
You could find a lot of Anaysts Price Targets which will tell you the same thing.0 -
Then why not invest in Ford or GM?Retireby40 said:Electronic cars just seems a natural progression. I'm gonna keep adding to it. Nothing major. I don't have the money to go big but enough to make something interesting in 5-10 years.
Why NIO?
What's YOUR reasoning?One person caring about another represents life's greatest value.0 -

So the "average price target" is actually down from current price. No all price are in US$. remember they are traded in NYSE. You could also see it from Barron'sKeep in mind these anaylists price forecast are not 100% accurate. In fact based on research the accuracy is just about 60%. But with such a great margin you have cushions even they just get 50% of that target price, you will still make a gain. Also, top insitutional holders include Baillie Gifford, Blackrock Inc. JP Morgan Chase, Vanguard Group, Inc.

I am very new so this is just a "gut" feeling, but would like to hear anybody's opinion on Versarien PLC
I have been a holder for a couple of years and it feels like 2021 could be a big year.
First verified Graphene in the world by the Graphene council, backed by the UK government with a recent loan and development deal with the MOD, lots of global collaborations. once they start to finally commercialise ...0 -
Mainly because I have been looking at Nio researching it and looking into its plans. That looks relatively good.Username999 said:

I am no expert. I'm a beginner at investment.
Why would you suggest the other 2 over NIO?0 -

What's YOUR reasoning?Because ICE and EV are two different things. The only comparatives advantages, these Ford or GM have, are making chassis/body. All other things are technologies, motors, sensors, batteries, Control, AI, software. They are too late to enter the market and therefore difficult to compete in price.
In the early days this is actually many wall street analysts got it wrong when they try to value an EV company like Tesla, NIO, and they have openly admitted it. They compare it with Toyota, Ford, GE. Cathie Wood and Ron Barons have spotted tesla in their infancies since a few years ago.
About NIO China is the largest EV market. NIO get full support from chinese govenment to compete in EV market such as with Tesla.

I will admit I know 0 about it all. I read about NIO and I thought well. Could be good. I'm completely oblivious to other things and is the reason I ask on this.adindas said:Username999 said:

Most people would know more than me about this and if I can learn something all the better.0 -

I took out a small stake in VRS a wee while ago and the share is currently in positive territory for me. However, I have it logged in my brain as one for growth in the medium term (say 18 - 24 months) rather than with any hopes of dramatic rise in the short-term. VRS have some really impressive applications in development - the potential uses for their graphene inks alone are mind-blowing. I'm convinced that graphene will come-of-age sooner rather than later, even if for the time being it remains "the technology that can do everything except get out of the lab"!Adyinvestment said:I am very new so this is just a "gut" feeling, but would like to hear anybody's opinion on Versarien PLC

There seems to be a nearly endless stream of applications, just about anything that would benefit from being stronger and lighter.Moe_The_Bartender said:

Some of the main ones at the moment are cement, components, clothing, military, construction, manufacturing, leisure/sports equipment, it also has antibacterial properties (they are making face masks with it)0
