Talldave said:If you were on prepayment prior to 26 Feb, why are they billing you for electricity and standing charges going back to Apr 2019??
PS: You're being robbed. I pay 11.5p per unit and 15p standing charge per day.
[RANT] No offence to OP, but why does anyone pay such stupid prices for energy? It's insane. [/RANT]Talldave said:If you were on prepayment prior to 26 Feb, why are they billing you for electricity and standing charges going back to Apr 2019??

[RANT] No offence to OP, but why does anyone pay such stupid prices for energy? It's insane. [/RANT]I’m no good with all this energy stuff.I swooped to credit meters so I could get a better deal with someone else as a lot of company’s offer better deals with credit meters.
I’ve always had problems with eon Once they were sending round The bailiff Because they said I owed them over £1000 it turns out they had replaced my meter and given me the wrong key
it took many sleepless nights an several months to sort out0 -

Hi Petriix, thanks for replying.Petriix said:Ok, that's a dog's dinner of a bill! They are including your previous usage and payments while it was prepayment so, in theory, those payments covered the usage up to the switch but, according to the bill, the charges up to 26 February total £541.36 + VAT vs credit of £451.64. It is unclear how or why your prepayments were not sufficient to cover your usage. This shows you were around £115 in debit on 26 February.Since 26 February they are actually billing you for 493 kWh (247 for March and 246 for April) but the readings are shown as (E) which means they have used estimated readings. You need to be clear exactly what the correct reading should have been on 6 May. The actual charges for this period amount to £118.18 inc VAT. Did you provide a meter reading in May? What is your current meter reading? There is clearly something very wrong with this bill because when you deduct the credits from the debits you get a total of £234.97 debit, which bares no relation to the demand for £322.21; unless there are other charges or adjustments detailed on another page. You also should not have been able to build a debit balance while on prepayment.
You need to raise a formal complaint about the discrepancies because they appear to have got it totally wrong.Further to this, you are on an extortionate tariff and paying almost double what I am per unit. You should switch supplier ASAP and pay by monthly direct debit to reduce your costs.
i was never in any debt so should not owe any money prior to having a credit meter fitted on the 26th of February 2020.
this was just the tariff they stuck me on. I only changed my meter so I could go with another company for a better deal. But then lockdown came an I’ve not been home since now I can’t change company’s because I owe eon money
i’ve been in touch with them repeatedly an they say they will look into it, but I never hear from them again.
ive not been at my home since the 23rd of March due to government shielding at my friends house.
i did get my daughter to take a reading on the 10th of June which was 04636

I'd pay them £112.55 + VAT = £118.18 (the total on the credit tariff) and ask them to explain why they have billed you for all that past usage on a pre-payment meter. If you don't get a very prompt answer then raise it in a letter headed COMPLAINT and sent by Royal Mail. That wil start the clock ticking for a complaint to the Ombudsman. The usage since you've been away seems reasonable (although the rates to which you signed up are extortionate), depending on what was left in use.1

Having made the above payment, I'd start a switch to Neon Reef or a cheaper company of your choice. It will probably be blocked because E.On think you owe them money. However, if it turns out that they've blocked you because of their mistake then you would have good grounds for compo, including all the extra you will have had to pay from the date that your switch to a much cheaper tariff would have taken effect.0

Did you really have the meter replaced twice? You've apparently had 3 meters in 3 months! And neither of the replacement meters were new.

They put a smart pay as you go meter in January 2020 but I wanted it taken out an credit meter fitted.Talldave said:Did you really have the meter replaced twice? You've apparently had 3 meters in 3 months! And neither of the replacement meters were new.
But again it was pay as you go so didn’t owe them anything when the credit meter was fitted in February0 -
