How's your luck! We exchanged and completed a week ago. There's a big chunk of money we won't be seeing again   :#
Damn it, sorry to hear that. With respect, just hoping we don't find ourselves in the same boat.
Does anyone know what time the announcement is?
    I think its around midday.

Really hope something for second time buyers is announced with immediate effect. We haven't exchanged yet but we would potentially benefit approx 25k if the thresholds raise enough. Fingers crossed!

The best they're talking about is no stamp duty on purchases up to £500k, which is around £15k stamp duty. Some think £300k is more likely. It's very unlikely to be high enough to benefit someone facing a £25k SD bill...

My bet is on the threshold going up from 125k to 500k for 6/12 months. If that does happen, that would mean the 15k savings go to buyers of 500k+ properties as well.

May be the case if they raise the common threshold to let's say 500k but keep only the 3% for the second home purchases. Would still be a reduction to the current situation even for those facing higher bills.

Up until 31st March 2021 and up to £500,000 means no stamp duty. Useless, this is when HTB ends too.
