Stamp Duty Exemption

So upon the recent news, it seems the stamp duty exemption is due to come into play as of TOMORROW.
I'm interested to see as we have recently submitted all final documentation for our house purchase/sale but NOT exchanged yet.
Very keen to see if we're able to take advantage of this exemption.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I would have thought so yes, you haven’t legally binding done anything yet!0

Shame this is not in Scotland or Wales. There will be a similar stall to the market if nothing is announced for either devolved administration2

Yes, of course you can if not yet exchanged. OTOH, if the implementation is delayed to September, your chain will probably be stalled and your mortgage offer may expire,No free lunch, and no free laptop

I hope this is for 12 months. COVID has delayed a lot of new builds well into next year that were due to be completed soon, so this doesn't benefit that many people especially with HTB ending.0

I have read they won't be implementing until the next budget in which case, I'd assume we'd miss out as expecting to exchange either this week or next.0

Based on previous precedent and SDLT suspensions, its been based on exchange."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0

How's your luck! We exchanged and completed a week ago. There's a big chunk of money we won't be seeing again

We haven't exchanged yet so hoping that the stamp duty holiday is going to be announced today with immediate affect! Will make a huge difference to us.0

Damn it, sorry to hear that. With respect, just hoping we don't find ourselves in the same boat.Seraphseven said:How's your luck! We exchanged and completed a week ago. There's a big chunk of money we won't be seeing again
