Npower. Refused mortgage.

Can someone help me please. Just in the process of applying for a mortgage and have been turned down. Reason being is this marker from Npower. There are two. Once for electric and one for gas. Totalling £58 🙄

Long story short, it was the result of a final bill after moving from a rental property. The first I heard of it was last year in Nov from a debt collection agency "we've been trying to contact you... Finally found you" I paid straight away. Anyway, I have now been turned down because of this default. On my credit report it shows:

Started: 21/06/2014
Settlement date: 22/11/2019
Updated to: 22/12/2019

My question is... When will this drop off my report? Am I going to have to wait until 2025??!!

I have saved for years for my deposit, I can't wait another 6 years for £58 😞😞

Thankyou, unfortunately it doesn't actually state when the "default" date was.

If you've been turned down because of a default, the default will be on at least one of your files.

Shouldn't it of dropped off on the 21/06/20? Who did you apply with?

You should be able to get a mortgage. If it wasn't defaulted it stays on for 6 years from the date of settlement. We can't see the bit under the payment / dates.

Who was the mortgage application with?
Was it an application or was it a DIP?
Did you apply via a broker or direct?
How much was your deposit (%)?

Is there anything else on your credit reports?
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

No.  Accounts drop off six years from closure, or default if earlier.

We are through a broker. He has been really good to be fair. We have a 17% deposit (based on house prices in the area) but the lenders that would overlook it are currently requiring a 20% deposit and there's no way we can get that extra 3% together. 🙄
    Would this help anyone?

Back in Nov they said they had been chasing me for ages. Don't understand why though as have been on the electoral role at our current place for the past 2.5 years 🤔

I'm not sure they did default it, as mine (on MSE) shows default / ended.

You could lodge a complaint with NPower as they could/ should have defaulted it after 3 months of non-payment.

What lender did your broker try? Have you found a property to buy?

Why didn't you pay the bill in the first place? Surely you didn't just move out without providing closing meter readings and settling your account?

It's possible that they have attributed charges to you that should have been paid by the landlord for the period between when you moved out and the new tenants moved in. I'd definitely raise a complaint with Npower and find out some more details.
