Who's now ditching the hairdresser?

I only have my haircut once a year to keep costs down, I've coloured it myself since before leaving school.
Missing having my eyebrows threaded!Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Being in the Welsh area of the country - hairdressers are opening again some days later. Cue for me realising I've got a "standard" appointment with the hairdresser I've been using one day later than that date anyway (ie a bus-ride away on an infrequent/currently even more infrequent bus service).
Not quite sure what I'm doing at the moment. I'd made one with one very nearby (thinking "well they will do until things are Back to Normal all round").
So nearby one phoned me confirming we are all set for first official date Welsh ones are available and asking for my surname and email address (hmm....contact tracing if....but gave them to her) and that was followed by an email with a list of "rules" she personally has decided on. I can deal with all those "rules of hers personally" apart from her personal decision customers are to wear masks. Waiting at this moment to see what response she makes to my email back saying that I never wear masks and I know it's not "mandatory".
Waiting at the moment to see what is going to happen re my usual hairdresser - who has also been told that I don't wear masks.
Am in process of checking out a local mobile hairdresser that is a one person business - sounds okay in all other respects to at least do for a "makeshift - until things are Back to Normal" and, if she's good, then I could stick with her Afterwards. Waiting to see what her response is to me saying that I don't wear masks and, if she's okay about that, I'll go with her.
If she isn't okay with that - I've got the details of a firm that sells reasonable quality wigs and I'll just wear a wig instead (for the first time in my life!!) until things are Back to Normal and there are no longer some hairdressers that I have to boycott because of their personal insistence on forcing customers to wear masks.
After all - if Jewish Orthodox women wear wigs over their own hair as soon as they get married and strict Muslim women wear headscarves all the time anyway - then it's physically possible to manage without "my own hair looking Normal" for a few weeks (worst case analysis of a few months) until things are Back to Normal again (whenever that is).
Fingers crossed I can get my haircut soon - as that's my preferred option. But I have certainly seen the photos online that proves some hairdressers aren't forcing clients into masks against their will.

Little demo here of how that works: https://mobile.twitter.com/richdavisphd/status/1276629360212979712
Please note, before you come at me with 'those are bacteria, not virus':I'm aware that this simple (n=1) demo isn't how you culture viruses or model spread of SARS-CoV-2. But colonies of normal bacteria from my mouth/throat show the spread of large respiratory droplets, like the kind we think mostly spread #COVID19, and how a mask can block them!
I don't care if you're happy to catch it and die, the least you can do is wear the thing to protect your hairdresser against you unknowingly spreading it. (But I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people, so I'm not going to debate this.)9 -
I'm on a count down to my first hair appt ....but I will be looking to move hairdressers as mine has put their prices up tremendously since my last cut in February.0

I can follow the logic of that if they're having to cover that protective gear most (but not all.....) of them are wearing. Did duly see a photo of a hairdresser cutting a mans hair over the last couple of days - and neither of them were wearing any protective gear at all. I know most of them will be leaving "gaps in time" by the look of it between clients - during which they spray chemicals round everywhere. Now that's a thought that has only just struck me saying that - there's likely to be lots of nasty chemicals hanging around in the air that we'd all breathe in - due to chemical spraying however-many-times-per-day.
Just veered more in the direction of either a home hairdresser or buying a wig for the duration. Don't fancy breathing in a load of extra chemicals either...

I had mine done yesterday by my usual hairdresser, the usual colour, wash, blow-dry and cut. Other than her having to wear a plastic visor it was the much the same as usual and she hasn't put the prices up. It's a far superior result to what I could hope to achieve at home - expecting such overlooks the fact that hairdressers are trained and, we hope, know what they are doing.
I've got mixed feelings about nails, though. I've gone back to varnishing them at home and I'm really not sure about reverting to professional manicures. They are a lovely treat, but expensive.0 -

Not sure when people think things are getting back to the old normal.
it looks unlikely we’ll get a vaccine this year and even then it will take many months to roll out to millions in this country, so spring at the earliest IF successful.
i don’t like wearing a mask but I either need to get used to it or forfeit some things5 -

Personally I would have thought there was more of a risk with a mobile hairdresser - after all logically they will be coming into contact with more people (especially if they've popped to the supermarkets inbetween clients for example)
As for giving them my details, mine has that already so I don't see the issue with me confirming them.
As for the extra charges, they were already on the expensive side but the amount that they've put the costs up to are unacceptable.1 -
I've been planning to break up with my hairdresser since February. I just haven't figured out how. So, I'm just not going. Cowards approach, I guess. It's nothing she's done, she's excellent, I just hate her new location. The shop owner is creepy and constantly hovering around and when it's time to pay the machine magically stops working and I have to pay cash, which requires me to run to the bank machine. It's happened two out of three visits.
Husband had a haircut price had gone up by 50%, so he wasn't happy.
