I would suggest you read everything you can on BR procedure to help you understand.
I found the insolvency service was worth a read...also the stickies on here including the Welcome thread.
There's a lot to get your head round.
Also I found Stepchange very good...definitely worth a call to one of the debt free charities

You need to leave council tax in as there are two adults in the house so your council tax will be payable by the other adult.

Does the other adult not have any income?

That's not strictly true I was declared bankrupt in may. My partner is the sole owner of the house so that is safe yet my name is on the council tax bill along with hers. She has always paid the council tax by herself yet this month the direct debit wasn't taken so I rang the office to find out why they told me it's because I'm bankrupt and it's written off for the rest of the year. I queried that my partner isn't bankrupt so she should be liable to pay the lady went away spoke to the insolvency department at the council who said no it's fully written off and they won't be asking my partner to. We was told we would receive the next bill at the start of the next tax year. This is kirklees council if it helps

I went bankrupt on 19th June.
When I had the interview with the OR, I queried about the council tax and he said no, they won't be taking the council tax because my wife's name is on the council tax and she's not the one going bankrupt even though I'm the only one that pays the tax.

The way I see it you will not be paying council tax during this financial year.
If they do decide the other adult has to pay it..then it still needs to come off your SOA.
    That's just my thoughts

Strange it just shows there's scope for different interpretations from the council it would be worth the OP ringing their council for clarity I never had an interview with the OR though I made no mention of council tax but they wrote to the council anyway so my Mrs is happy she's an extra 102 quid a month till next year

If your council don't fully write it off like they did with me then your other half if they are on the council tax bill will be liable to pay it all. I just think our council did it in error as I fully assumed my Mrs would have to keep paying but it's 100 percent we don't I've queried it with the council 3 times now

Is it automatic or do I have to inform the council?

i just found out all my council tax bills are in my partners name

If they are solely in his name then nothing needs to be done or said as he will be liable regardless if you are bankrupt or not as technically your not down to pay so your council tax will just carry on as normal
