Well I did say I was umming & aahing about a new lean to & back door & window, well I've pushed the boat out & bid £5 in a 2nd hand window on ebay!! I've got £5 in my paypal account already, hope I don't have to pay more, I might get palpitations!
Still haven't got my friends builder around for quote, want to get some savings before I do as not going into debt for it, & he doesn't do interest free surprisingly:p

Look at it this way, you aren't actually spending ANY more money. You are saving £10 a day by not smoking, this will go towards the new fireplace/home improvements, and now you aren't smoking you'll be here longer to enjoy them (morbid eh:D )

Got my bathroom one on ebay a couple of years ago for £11, only trouble with windows is that you have to collect them:rolleyes: this is only a tiny one, & looks a bit dirty in the pic, should get it cheap - i hope

Morning all,
Hope you are all well...today I have had the virgin money hit my account... and also the fireplace people have phoned and I'll be having those fitted on the 8th may.So that's good news for the day.
Need to get myself moved as JJ is coming tonight for the weekend .I don't feel 100% either as coughing like a good one but at least my lungs are clearing.
Need to go and get some shopping in as well and fill the car so see you all later...forgot need to check the car as DH thinks we have a slow puncture..great.

Sounds like you're going to be warm and snug with those fires! Sometimes we have to spend money even if we haven't got a surplus - I think the worst thing we can do is to deny ourselves everything because (just like dieting!) we then give up as it is too hard. Far better to develop new habits and, when you need something like this, find a sensible way to do it (like 0% credit!) which can be managed.

flipping heck nearly had a heart attack reading through! Thank goodness you didnt spent 7000 on fires as thats a ridiculous amount to spend when youre trying to pay debts off!! Sorry but just being honest! Being DFW is about balance though and we al have to decide our own desperate needs vs paying debts off and in the grand scheme of DFW's youre pretty good but do watch out my friend as theres an awful lot going out on windows, fires etc at the mo....will probably be flamed for saying that but just want to be a good DFW friend rather than a "whee thats amazing you just spent xxx" IYKWIM!! I give you full permission to do the same when I buy something I want (look for book refs!!) rather than need!! Have a great time with DGS!! Big hugs!

Hi there ..DGS is asleep now so have got some peace until the morning lol..thanks Mizmir...we are sick of freezing here every year..and the house has to be maintained and repaired...and at least it's 0% as are all my cards.
Hypno..thanks I will ..I don't know what we are going to do yet though..think the weather forecast isn't too good for tomorrow but I'm sure we'll find something to do.
Thanks ISOM...you're right it is about balance...and they are actually a need rather than a want...I do have surplus money every month after my bills etc....my loans have to run their course as no point in overpaying...so those are finished 2011...the two credit cards listed below are 0% until jan and the other CC that I'll list when I update my sig is 0% until july...so with the change from the fires I was originally going to buy I may do up the two living rooms..we have been in this house over 5 years and done nothing to it so far and it is a very old house..it just got to the point that it couldn't be left any longer....
