I have no doubt whatsoever you will get it for 3.5k if you are confident about it. Not a lot of people spending at the moment. Have you seen don't get done get dom? Fantastic advice on there. Don't go in with "can I have it for £3.5 cash" more like, "hmmmm only wanted to spend 3 grand really.......
Let him do all the talking, enjoy the silences and then at the end tell him you will definitely give him the business today if its 3.5k(after all the in between haggling)
Ooooh, i love haggling, its great.
Keep us posted mate.
Well done again0 -
Yep me too!!!!!...but don't think I'd have the cheek to start at 3k...going to see what he comes up with first and work back from there..will let you know though.0

Taxi, you have to warn us when you're going to do things like that, I nearly had heart failure skimming through the posts to see if you were going to spend 7 grand.
Well done for getting fireplaces for half that price. Your house will be looking fantastic soon with all the new features. You'll have to post some pictures.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I'm back and I got it for £3.5k...they are going to look gorgeous....we intend to stay in this house for quite a while and thought that seeing as we don't waste money on nights out and smoking so spend a fair amount of time in the house so may as well be comfy and seeing as we are getting old now we have to opt for quality over price...
I have looked in some of the cheaper places but they leave a lot to be desired and some of the cheaper ones do look cheap...at the end of the day your fireplaces and fires are a focal point....one of my gas fires has been condemned since the day we moved in 5 years ago!!! and it's freezing in the winter...
think I have justified it to myself now ..I
I'm not doing very well at becoming debt free though am I?0 -
You don't have to justify yourself taxi.
There's only one point I'd take issue with: "we're getting old". Nonsense! May I remind you I'm one month older than you, young lady.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
ooh, pass her the mug of ovaltine and the heated slippers, seaxwyn, don't want the old dear to get chilly while she waits for the new fires to be delivered!
Old indeed.......:rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
LOL at you 2...
I do actually feel guilty for spending the money but jobs are needing doing..that many I don't know where to start.
I guess that while they are giving me interest free for 15 months I might as well use it.I was going to pay a halifax loan off ..but..there was no point...I could have put it in my offset but would have had to take it out of there to pay it back at the end...so then i was stuck ...so we decided to use it for the fires.
So I have put myself in more debt so will have to put my sig up again when it hits the bank...ahh well...don't think I've sussed this debt busting bit...0 -
Knowing you, taxi, you will still have paid off more by the end of the year than the rest of us put together! I am sure that extra debt will not be there for too longSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. That all depends on whether we have a full blown recession or not!!!!...got loads of stuff to pay off so will watch the dates carefully...Amex is about £4k this month..my front door and the fires plus normal bills!!!..the money is in all different accounts though so will have to remember to move it about....will be glad when it's all paid out...this is why I haven't made overpayments this month yet...0
