I read today that works can continue if they can’t be done from home and this includes inside other peoples houses so I’m taking this that ours will still go ahead 🤞 worst case they can do a desktop, it’s the searches I’m worried about - ours was meant to be 10 days and they said last week (after 2 weeks) that they’ve been delayed due to Covid so now no idea how further delayed they will be.NatNat77 said:I knew the construction industry could still work (my husband also works in it) but valuations and home surveys surely don't fall under that category as they involve entering private homes and aren't exactly essential are they, even though you can't do them from home. But if 85c has seen they can still go ahead I'll take a chill pill lol, do you have a link where you read that 85c?

My husband is similar we are self employed we have a joiner but husband is lone worker except for his PA but she works from home. But I read on the government site that house buying and selling is to still go ahead, only reason you can’t move is if you are self isolating. Read in the telegraph, valuations will still place just need to make sure all doors and walk ways are open and you are out of house.NatNat77 said:I knew the construction industry could still work (my husband also works in it) but valuations and home surveys surely don't fall under that category as they involve entering private homes and aren't exactly essential are they, even though you can't do them from home. Our searches were ordered 4 weeks ago and aren't due back until 17 Dec, which will probably be longer now. Our council website says they take 20 days! You can get delayed or no search indemnity insurance apparently, I don't think it's too expensive, but not all lenders accept it. They're going to have to extend the stamp duty deadline surely, at least for people like us who are already in the process! But I just want to move now, there are already enough delays. Good that valuations can still go ahead though, I don't think they'll do ours desktop. Not sure where we're all supposed to go while they're here though, especially if it's an in depth survey lol0

I was so pleased about stamp duty, but we said we would pay it if meant things where quicker! It’s so long! They will probably ask u to sit in the car or garden. I had to drive out 3 kids around for hours while we had viewings in July! It’s just a nightmare!NatNat77 said:Our searches were ordered 4 weeks ago and aren't due back until 17 Dec, which will probably be longer now. Our council website says they take 20 days! Hahaha nah keep your stamp duty savings and enjoy them because it makes no difference to wait times! I’m in Wales and we’re still paying it on this purchase......and still in the same crappy queue, I might be less annoyed about the queue if we were saving thousands too!! 😂😂85c said:I was so pleased about stamp duty, but we said we would pay it if meant things where quicker! We're still paying almost 34k, another 15 would probably put the house out of our reach 😭Meh123 said:

I feel you!! It’s just grim isn’t it 😅 taxed on the earnings used for the purchase, taxed when you buy it, then taxed again when you die and pass it on 😂😂 I mean.....it’s not a great deal is it!!NatNat77 said:We're still paying almost 34k, another 15 would probably put the house out of our reach 😭0 -

Sounds similar to us, out of interest what area are you in. I’m really hoping our searches don’t take that long.NatNat77 said:
