I often wonder why people leave bags outside charity shops. Nearly every one has a notice in the window asking people not to leave bags when the shop is closed so why do people do it? Sometimes the bags block the doorway and whoever arrives first to open up has to move bags out of the way so they can open the door which seems to me very unfair.

Apparently they have to dispose of the items that are left outside as they cannot risk selling them for safety reasons eg dog wee etc.
I've never understood why people can't wait until the shops are open to hand it over.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -

I used to gather my "road kill coinage" in a pot over the year. This thread prompted me to realise that I have found none so far this year! 2019 had less than 2018 and I think the total has been going down year-on-year as people are not using cash so much. The area around bus stops used to be an excellent source but that just about ended when local buses ceased to accept cash payments.

Had a lucky day today......again.
Whilst strolling with my dog I found stainless steel dog bowls. When I can cadge a lift I will take them along with expensive dog food (that she won't eat) to a local rescue center.
I put out the dinner service as promised and someone took 4 dinner plates, gravy boat and side dishes leaving 6 dinner plates. Very polite. Will leave the rest out until tomorrow night and if they don't go I will bring them in as one of our charity shops will be open on Monday.
Good luck foraging.............AKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo

I've been litter picking during lockdown, trying to make my adopted new area a tidier place. So far I've found 51p and a huge amount of fag butts. I picked up a sandwich box somebody had forgotten to put in their car. It had a child's name on it, I tried social media to try and reunite it with its owner without success. OH will find a use for it in the garage.Yesterday I picked up some montbrecia plants somebody was clearing from his garden. I also got an Italian phrasebook a few weeks back that somebody was giving away.I've given away strawberries, rhubarb and some cauliflower plants to various neighbours. Also broccoli leaves to a neighbour for their guinea pigs.Make £2025 in 2025

Well, I must have the politest brigade of people walking past my house. There were 6 dinner plates left and someone took 5. Clearly what they needed, and no more Now left with one odd plate. Back to the cupboard. Ho hum..................

Now I see schoolchildren drop coins, look down, and then ignore them.6 -
When I was a teen I had a paper round and the shop was just a few doors up from the pub. This was the days before drink driving became frowned upon and I would find loads on a Saturday and Sunday morning. Obviously when people got back to their cars, pulled out the car keys from their pockets, the odd note would fall unnoticed - the days when pound were notes7
