Thank you Mum of Zeus
(congratulations on clothes haul)
Does it count as wombling if you trawl through sites where people give things away for free ?
If it does then I now have some beautiful new make-up. First for about 20 years. It's time I made an effort.
Also, beautiful Moroccan style silver mirror which again has gone to my sister-in-law. She and my brother are in the process of parting company but there are 2 children and an awful lot of love and care left so am trying to support where I can. She has just bought a house. Timing is awful but it can't be helped.

I have to tell you this 'cos I think it's funny.
A year or 2 ago I was at the self checkout when I noticed a lady looking at my items. She offered me a 25p coupon for milk, as she doesn't drink it. I was really pleased and grateful. Then I read about a 'Coupon fairy' on these boards. She finds discarded coupons and tucks them by the product for others to use. It started my mission. And I have been successful. A single Mum was thrilled with a £3.00 off a £30 spend. etc.....
All the while the security guard was keeping a very close eye on me, even following me. I wasn't perturbed, wasn't doing anything wrong. Eventually he cottoned on and realised I was not only helping myself but trying to share my finds.
Here is 'the turn up for the books'. For the last 2 days he has given me coupons he has picked up during the day !
He must have missed me and my shenanigans over the last 6 months. Anyway, I blew him a kiss as I was leaving. It would have been rude not to.........

OOOpppps, forgot to mention.........
I have recently become addicted to checking sites where people give things away for free. Takes my mind off things. And as you know I now have free unused make-up. Things that I wouldn't buy but am thrilled to have. I try to limit my requests to things we need .......most of the time I am too late, but hey-ho I have still been successful.
A 'new to me' leather couch. Delivery costs involved plus getting rid of old suite (£200.00 total) but still oodles cheaper than even buying one in charity shop.
I cannot afford the £2/£3 cost of my favourite coffee so searched and waited for a coffee machine to turn. One did but I was told it had already been ear-marked for someone else (told you I was always too late). I thanked the lady politely for letting me know. 2 days later she contacted me as she had a no show and now I am the proud owner of a Delonghi coffee machine. Machiatto................here I come !

I love that story with the security guard bala - it's nice to spread a little kindness, gives you a warm fuzzy.
Good morning womblers. I've kept my eye on this thread for some time. I don't go out much, so don't get to womble for myself. But I have been clearing my parents' house as it is now sold and we've been putting stuff out at the end of the drive for people to take (I asked about that here a while ago) and have recently held a garage sale too - just asking people to make us an offer for anything they want and giving away a lot too. We'll do another one next weekend when we're there again - there's a lot of stuff to clear!
It makes me happy that people might be delighted with what they take away and that it might be re-purposed into something new or useful to them. One bloke took a load of old oil cans that were going to be cleaned up and used to decorate a Cuban bar with a car theme, along with some wheel trims and the like. My father would be very amused at that!
It's had knock on benefits too, as people calling or finding things have passed on information to others and we've found traders and dealers as a result, who have bought more than an individual would. And it's surprising what other people want - not the things we think have value.
Thanks for the inspiration to give it a go.13
