That's a good find, pay it in at your bank Bala. Details are online about how to swap old for new, including sending it away for swapping if it's really old and not accepted into your account.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4

Bala, you can post the old note to the Bank of England and they will send a new one? We once found some old ones and sent them off, just looked online, cannot quite remember the procedure but I think that I downloaded a form, completed it, and sent if off with the notes

Bala. I work at a charity shop and someone comes in with an old £20.00 not at least once a week. They get taken to the Post Office who kindly swap them. I recently took a load of very old 50p, 10p and 5p pieces and they swapped them too.

This week actually found a 50p coin on pavement. The first coin I've found this year.
Using cards for even small payments (mainly because of Covid) must mean people aren't handling coins in the way they did years ago.
I used to find coins by bus stops but that supply dried up when the buses round here changed to only accepting payment by card.6
