For example, I can afford this property but it is on the market for 6 months. Why nobody wants it in Greater London where people always looking for to buy properties?
Given the events of the past six months, being on the market for 6 months is maybe not exceptional.  There will have been 3 slow winter months and then 3 months of lock-down.  Your question is a valid one though, and there could be high service charges or something that makes an impact.

@hazyjo= I am not well versed on the Kent commuter towns, but does Ashford push higher up the desireability league because of the high speed rail links to both London, Paris and Brussels?  Maybe the cost of using that is prohibitive and negates the benefit.  I would also have though that Maidstone needs to be a consideration for Kent commuter towns?
    Grumpy_chap,
Why you did not mention that there is a consideration to extend Crossrail into MK? Do you have any idea what place it could be, near what postcode? Thanks :-)

Weren't any of the areas recommended in your other thread any good?

Have you actually viewed anything yet or walked round areas?

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6156960/buying-in-south-east-or-south-london/p1
    Hazyjo,
I still cannot make my mind- to buy a flat in London or bigger flat-house (with garden) outside London. I have exams in September, so will start to view areas after exams. Thanks.
    Hazyjo,
Another thing is I am still waiting for if somebody can comment on areas like Sevenoaks/ Tonbridge/ Tunbridge Wells/ Ashford and further seaside towns (as first I thought to look at those areas for living there and later as investment).
I liked comments about Reading and Milton Keynes (and MK has a large community of people who speaks my language and I had no idea about it, so thank you to Grumpy_chap).
    Thank you.
They're lovely areas. I nearly bought in Tunbridge Wells.

I would think Sevenoaks would be a bit more desirable than Tunbridge Wells as nearer London, then Tonbridge, then Ashford.
    Hazyjo,
Why do you think Ashford is more desirable than Tunbridge Wells?
I thought about Ashford, they have a lot of new properties there. Then I looked at yearly travel card to London.... and it stopped me and I came back to the forum :-)
Sevenoaks would be ideal for me but it is expensive and I scare to go into shared ownership.
I don't. I would put them in this order of desirability:

    Sevenoaks
    Tunbridge Wells
    Tonbridge
    Ashford
2024 wins: *must start comping again!*

I did not mention it because I did not know.  I can only assume it would go to the centre and link with MK central rail station?

I am glad you have done some research into the areas - the next step is to short-list say 2 or 3 areas and visit them to get a feel for what you like or don't like.  MK, as you mentioned, has an expat community from your home country so maybe they have a forum or similar that can give advice.  There may also be community boards you can investigate for the other places too.

I attached for you. If you are a landlord and if Crossrail would expand, you can increase rent :-)

Have you done a search in south croydon? There are some HTB properties there that are not over priced and in line with other similar older flats on sale in the area.
Do you think Croydon is safe? Do you live there?
No I don’t live there but I have friends who do and I have considered it for buying a property myself. I have never felt unsafe when I visit. South Croydon is Residential but has lots of restaurants and close to high street shops.
East Croydon is also close to shops, Boxpark right by the station and lots of fast trains.
If you are serious about buying then you should go visit the streets/ areas where suitable properties are located.

This is a new build only launches recently. Maybe they advertised before launching? You can call and ask. These are micro apartments and nobody’s first preference as they would be tiny.

Miranda, FTS is right, you should look for something with at least 35-40 sqm in my opinion (376-430 sqft).
If it's smaller than that then you're effectively buying a studio apartment with some walls separating the living room and the bedroom, which is not ideal in my opinion (unless if the price is right).

That flat is horrid!  It's far too expensive for what it is - £245,000 for a shoebox is ridiculous and it's the sort of property that's set to plummet in value if there's any sort of economic downturn.  The service charges are going to be extortionate; the concierge service, hipster 'co-working space', multiple lifts, residents' lounge and so on all need to be paid for.  The 'sky garden' is going to be unusable for three of the four seasons.  It's high up, therefore will be wind blown, rain swept and bleaker than the deck of a trawler in a high sea much of the time.
The flat itself is minute: the bed in the photo isn't a proper double and the kitchen looks similar in size to one found in a caravan and lacks any proper worksurfaces.  The fittings are of poor quality.  In fact, I don't know how it's compliant with present regulations as it appears to have a toilet door opening directly into the kitchen.  There's no mention of any parking.  In short, it's the cynical, mercenary creation of an overheating property market, conceived only to line the pockets of a developer without thought of the future or the wellbeing of its resident.  We ought to be striving for better and there are nicer flats out there.

this one is on HTB and decent price, not ridiculous and won’t have high service charge.

    Hi Jumperabv3,
I am looking for a property with total area above 40 sqm.
Looking at floor plan of the flat from FTS, I had no idea what the size is as there are hardly any figures on floor plan. I cannot understand why estate agents often do not put total area figures (even when they mention size of every room). I still want to know total area of property:-)
