Hi Jo Jo.....glad to see you are feeling a little brighter in your last post.  And no I not going to tell you to grow up.  You are struggling and the last thing you need is people being nasty. You need some TLC.

Are you clinically depressed do you think or is it that you just feel really low because you feel fat, unhealthy and unattractive.  If it is real clinical depression then I urge you to get help.....don't try and battle through alone.  If you feel that it is your weight that's making you feel so low then don't despair, once you start to make a few lifestyle changes you will soon start to feel better in yourself.  I must admit you sound more positive already.

Don't feel embarrassed at the tears.  At my heaviest I was a size 18 going on 20 and I can commiserate that finding nice clothes in those size ranges is very difficult.  And like you I have been reduced to tears in changing rooms.  And there have been times when getting ready to go out I would end up in floods of tears because I felt so fat, frumpy and ugly.  (One of the reasons I started the Frump to Fab thread was to try and improve how I felt about myself).

Last year I managed to lose almost 3 stones and I felt so much better. I lost a couple of dress sizes, getting down to a 14/16 And what a difference it made.  I Looked and felt better, healthier,, even my knees felt better.  UNfortunately since lockdown I have regained 1 stone - my own stupid fault - but I have now taken myself in hand and am determined to lose that extra weight. I refuse to go back to how I was.

My top tip......don't put your life on hold until you've lost weight,   Smarten yourself up now, treat yourself to a couple of outfits that make you feel good - charity shops are your friend as you lose weight.  Start taking care of yourself, hair, skin, make up etc.  And remember accessories like scarves, jewellery, handbags are not size dependent so have a look at jazzing things up with some nice new accessories.  Chazzers are great for inexpensive costume jewellery, handbags, scarves.

Another tip, invest in a good bra......makes all the difference. 😂.

Keep going, keep posting. You'll get there.  And when you fall off the wagon and have a bad day don't despair.  Just pick yourself up and try again. Remember a weight loss of 1lb per week adds up to nearly 2 stones in just 6 months.  You can do it.

Thank you helensbiggestfan - made me smile! x

  • Oops just realised, got your name wrong.  Sorry.
  • Self-pity is not the option. You should have to go with a long-term strategy to lose your weight. My personal opinion is that you should also include some vitamin D in your diet or even can go with supplements because usually, people have depression and such feelings with poor levels of vitamin D in the body. Also, try to sit in sunlight in the early morning.

To overcome weight, there are already many beneficial advices but you would have to decide your own which diet and workout suit you the most. Best of luck.

Well I've done almost two weeks of Noom and despite all the effort have only lost 2lbs. BUT better off than on and I think I can truly feel it. (BelfastGirl23 I have sent you a PM with my early comments about Noom).
Bonus is that I've fitted into the too small jeans that I bought that sent me over the edge before and I've lost reduced my double chin.
Double bonus is that the husband has realised he's a bit of a chubber (his word not mine!) and he is starting WW tomorrow. He will be zealous about it which will spur me on! Noom and WW have similar themes which makes it easy to combine.
Unfortunately I haven't won the lottery and have to go back to work on Wednesday. BUT it will be a bit of a routine and some interaction with other humans that I haven't seen for months!

EDIT: I've also started Vit D supplement, a low dose to see if it helps, though I do get plenty of sun.
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.

Big slap on the back from me for fitting into those jeans, nice going Joho and I bet you look great in them too. Good work on the great disappearing chinny chin chin as well, I found that was one place where my loss showed very quickly and clearly you're the same.
Hoorah for your OH leaping into the bandwagon and being very keen, pulling together surely makes everything easier for both of you.
Sorry to hear you also haven't won the lottery, there's a lotta that about!  ;)
Best wishes for Wednesday and beyond.

You don`t have to shame yourself because you are fat. I understood this only 3 years ago and sad I hadn`t done it before. I am a plus size woman, you can`t even imagine how many troubles you have with simple questions like choosing the right bra. There are even fashion advices on the internet how should I wear leggings https://curvy-ninja.com/2020/06/how-to-wear-leggings-when-you-are-plus-size-fashion-advice/. Is this a point why I should be sad and depressed. The answer is no. Just start to love yourself and your body.
    You will thank yourself later)

ALL diets work for weight loss, sooner or later, to varying degrees. But it's what we do afterwards, which counts. You have to change your lifestyle, not go back to the 'normal' diet which made you fat.

I lost weight because I switched to a low carb way of eating, because I have Type 2 diabetes. Before oral meds for T2DM, we were treated with low carb diets. When oral meds arrived it coincided with the beginning of all the low fat stuff. That might be fine for some, but if your body can't process carbs, taking meds but eating high carb low fat, is self-defeating. Some diabetes medications actually cause weight gain. NHS doesn't tell coeliacs to eat bread, because there aren't any drugs for it. If there were, it would be take this, you can eat bread now.

If someone has been bingeing biscuits, pizza etc I feel they need some psych help, not just to be told go away and lose some weight. It might be that a family member rewarded them with unhealthy food too often, or because they feel unloved and depressed and comfort eat. When I was first married, my husband fed me fattening stuff, because he was frightened I would leave him.

There are reasons why people get fatter. Not all of the fatter people are unhealthy, either. But many are and that's why obesity is an issue.

  • You dont need to eat like a rabbit.
You can eat curries, and creamy chicken......lots of butter, fat and cream is healthy....not bad. But you cant have carbs and fat.

Thats the only thing you need to remember when eating healthily.
You cannot have carbs and fat.....so choose one path.

On a Keto diet, you can eat as much fat as you like....and you will feel full, because fat makes you full and you will eat hardly any carbs.
But if you want carbs.....like Slimming World.....you cant have the fat too.
