Your Christmas sounds lovely. Great that the relative was able to have an early windfall cheque too.

I managed to flood one plate with gravy but, soon remedied that by tipping some off onto the other plates (ssssh don't tell anyone), so we all had some.... note to self don't forget the oven gloves when pouring hot gravy straight from the microwave! That and the relatives politely refusing the vegan stuffing (and doing a great job of not shuddering at my cow pat offerings), meant we still had an edible meal.
Dog had been bathed (& under-whelmed by the experience), brushed and tinselled for the event, she managed to behave-ish (no throwing up or other accidents) apart from leaping on and off my knee several times. Not at the table fortunately, but, when I sat down trying to digest the humungous meal, groan... not great for the digestion.
Sadly the visiting relative decided not to come after all, although rang, probably wise given the sudden onset of tier changes. Better for the relatives really, given their ages, although disappointed we cheered ourselves up with more food and alcohol than we thought we could possibly eat. Good grief my waistline resembles a watermelon.... staggered home with dog dragging me back.
So if any of you spotted a slightly wobbly 'mature' lady with a tinselled dog yesterday, not quite walking in a straight line, that was probably me!"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

Thanks all!

In money-saving mindset, despite my windfall (I do not know how my mind blanked out the possibility of this?), I was carefully stitching loops of ribbon (from my sewing tin, the cut-off's of those annoying bits on new clothes, that flap out when you get dressed & I don't use) onto the corners of my tea-towels, so they hang on the hooks in the kitchen rather than drop off.
I started this last year! Finally found a use for those bits of ribbons I had saved, for years, in case it was 'useful'. I now have tea towels that don't end up on the floor of the kitchen when I turn my back.
Managed to find a PA survey so that's increased the pot. Still haven't cashed it as I forgot, sending cheques to the relatives instead, thinking of birthdays/Xmas next year now.
If I do get the car, I am also going to do a late present run to the relatives in the other county, tier level permitting, even if it has to be a neutral out door's social distanced exchange somewhere, wearing a hazmat suit, visor, gloves, and pushing the pressies over with a barge pole!
They can then take suitable precautions/wear gloves/leave to one side/spray with anti-bacterial stuff, so they can relax knowing that it will be ok. I hope.
Going to donate a bit more food to the food bank, as I have been given a (literally) staggering amount and could not eat it all on my tod, later on today. Share the love!"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

Definitely share the love. I am reminded to add something to the food bank box in the SM today. Repurposing is great, saves money and provides a final use for something.
I do hope you get the car, it wil make things so much easier for you.
Food banks can never have enough, it's hard to believe they are desperately needed here in this age ☹️Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2
