Whilst I agree thet you can get very poor compatible cartridges the price difference is sometimes gigantic. I replaced the mono toner is an elderly HP Laserjet for £19. The HP site wanted (joke) £133! The replacement purchased was completely fine.
The downside is that compatibles aren't as cheap as Epson compatibles but if my printer lasts longer without the inconvenience of sudden death which has plagued me with Epsons over many years I will be happy.
It is not used much most of the time but its' use is irregular, with sometimes a few hundred pages required at a go so 15 pages a month like the HP Instant Ink & then regular top-ups would by comparison work out very expensive for me.0 -
Yes the T0711 (black), T0712 (cyan), T0713 (magenta) and T0714 (yellow) you list are the cartridges she uses. She loves the printer and finds the ink inexpensive and printer easy to use
Thank you.

Epson genuine cartridges are a bit pricey. I now buy my cartridges from stinky ink who guarantee they will work. Previously I'd had 3rd party cartridges that wouldn't always work. I'm a satisfied customer for several years now.0

HP instant ink may appear to make sense unless your printer decides the new cartridge is empty or faulty.
Fit a new cartridge and it works so you think it must have been empty, then the day after that ones empty.
Replace with the one you took out the day before and that works normally.
Only ever used genuine HP ink and its not a hard worked machine. Just seems to know when you
really need to print something important.
Considered an inktank epson, but not sure its worth it the amount we print.

Buy a colour laser printer. Best decision I ever made. Hardly ever replace the toner and there are no heads that need cleaning, so no wastage.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

Thank you.Sorry to say that I have struggled to identify any new Epson printers which take these cartridges in the "inexpensive" range for home use. I suspect these cartridges are for printers that are no longer manufactured. The range I was looking at in particular was the Epson SX range, but it seems that they are no longer current models, although you may be able to pick up a second hand one in working order from online sites such as Ebay.Maybe there are other forum members who have better product knowledge who can make more specific suggestions. My own printer is an Epson SX 200 which is the most reliable printer I have ever had and is just so inexpensive to run.Best of luck !!1 -
I am on my second HP Instant Ink printer and haven't regretted it once in the years that I have used the service. It's a proper money-saving service.0

Seen the picture quality......on even expensive laser printers? You have to consider carefully the use to which the printer will be put and then how much use.Last time I calculated a good up laser printer (colour fine for graphics but not photo quality) with high level of office use worked out at 11p per A4 page.I print at home on my Epson (excluding the photo printing that I use it for too) about 250 A4 sheets a year that's about a tenner for paper and a tenner for ink (compat). That's 8p a sheet plus purchase of printer (must be ten years old now) so really not a lot in it.If printing 15 of under sheets a month (180 per annum) instant ink seem economical. How much for 250 sheets a year?Certainly HP (and the compatibles) purchase on demand -rather than instant ink- works out very expensive with some at about £25 to £30 a set ....in my limited experience of HP injects!0
