Looking to buy a printer that has cheap ink replaceable cartridges to replace my granddaughters Epson SX515w, not a heavy user mainly used for schoolwork and advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Why not consider a printer that has ink reservoirs that you top up from a bottle rather than cartridges? That might be a cheaper to run option over time. I used an Epson one when I lived in Malaysia for a few years, and it worked pretty well. Over there I could get a bottle of ink for £10, which probably had the equivalent of several ink cartridges in it.0

Epson third party inks at just 3 or 4 pounds a set seem reasonable to me. Costs me about a tenner a year and that's for a photo printer 6 colour ones!

Epson compatible cartridges are easily obtainable and I have found them to be inexpensive and reliable over the years. I tend to stock up with black as I do not often need to print out in colour these days. Don't think I have ever purchased a genuine Epson cartridge.

Hp instant ink will be the best printer decision you will ever make"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Another vote for HP instant ink.
I have come across too many cheapo cartridges that cause problems over the years - some are excellent, others are rubbish, unfortunately you often don't know which is which. Due to the nature of my work I can't take that chance.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Sadly some printers are set not to like or use compatibles. I've found that with a Canon printer, for example. Whilst I agree thet you can get very poor compatible cartridges the price difference is sometimes gigantic. I replaced the mono toner is an elderly HP Laserjet for £19. The HP site wanted (joke) £133! The replacement purchased was completely fine.0

Instant Ink. Low user (15 pages per month) for Free is a no-brainer.0

Have just contacted granddaughter and she asks if there is a printer that would take the same cartridges as her Epson SX515w,as she has quite a few cartridges left. thanks again and thanks for the replies.0

Presumably your granddaughter's remaining cartridges comprise an assortment of T0711 (black), T0712 (cyan), T0713 (magenta) and T0714 (yellow)? If you can confirm that these details are correct, the next step would be to try and answer your question, but also taking into account dimensions in case there are any constraints in that respect.
