I have just written a long letter to James, I thought it would come to the forum but it may have gone to his private box.
Anyhow, I have contacted a charity last week that deals with the people in my industry. I can not expect miracles but there may be solutions. The worst at the moment is the uncertainty. I may get a job on Tuesday, then I can sort things out. If I don't get a job I will need to move fast. I have very little money left and I will come back to the forum with all the info.

I wanted to ask you whether you have confided in any friends or family with what you are going through? You seem to be coping with an awful lot at the moment and if you have anyone to confide in outside of this board it may make things easier.
Don't worry about pride now, you have every reason to feel very proud of yourself, there are alot of people that wouldn't have done half as much for their family as you have.
Before you burn out, you need to get as much help as possible and whatever the outcome (bankruptcy being one option), remember there is alot of support out there and on this board for you and it won't always be this tough.
Good luck and keep posting

Thank you very much. That is good advice.empfun wrote:Hi kath20, you appear to take great pride in your past work and have the experience to undertake any task. Seeing that getting the right salary right now seems to be an obstacle for you right now, you might want to consider starting your own business in your discipline. No doubt it is a giant leap but would provide your with the ultimate satisfaction. But first thing's first, you've got to take the best action right now to eliminate your debts by following through with the advice posted by the experts.
To quote from a parable of the cow in the ditch that was told to Anne Mulcahy CEO of Xerox. "When everything gets really complicated and you feel overwhelmed,"..."think about it this way: You gotta do three things, First, get the cow out of the ditch. Second, find out how the cow got into the ditch. Third make sure you do whatever it takes so the cow doesn't go into the ditch again".0 -
Thank you. As I said, I have been misunderstood, I meant that my salary is higher and that I am ashamed to talk to people that earn less but cope.
I appriciate people in care services, they are amazing and they should be paid properly, as should the teachers and the cleaners and evryone.. 'Everyone has a right to a decent style of living.' That is written in UN Declaration of Human Rights 1948.jen_jen wrote:1.claim the benefits they are a right not a priviledge, you should start to look at DLA/AA for your mum
2."they are on a lower wage", if you broke your leg you'd go to a nurse or a doctor wouldnt you? they earn less than £44 K. Just because the skills of debt and welfare rights advisors arent financially recognised doesnt mean they are not professionals or dont know the answers.
3. only you can resolve these issues by taking a deep breath and writing it down (preferably here) so you can take a look at it objectively.
4. the longer you leave it hoping it will go away the more you will regret not doing something sooner when it is resolved and you are less stressed and able to concentrate on work etc etc.0 -
Just to say I am very greatful, I have just read all the messages, some were so funny and some offered great advice but all were very human. Thank you.
I will let you know of the developments. I may need the advice even if I get the job because debt won't just disappear and it will take long time.
Wish you all some luckEliza252 wrote:Hi Kath,

Go Kath! If you keep at it, things will work out - there's no cure-all for debt (unless you believe those daft loan ads), but it really is like dieting. Set a goal, figure out how to get there, give yourself enough lee-way to relax now and then, and most importantly: stick to the plan!
big hugs!!!0 -
I just wanted to send you good wishes - there is always a way out, somewhere. i hope you can feel better about your situation soon.
