Well, yes, all the other 2-series look like them, bar a bit of stick-on tupperware.

That's kinda what happens with the performance version of any particular model of car. Mini Coopers looked like Mini 850s.

Realisitically, M Cars are there to sell the cooking variants.  Few can justify the expense of an M car but it has a halo effect over the rest of the range.

At least the M2 has bespoke bodywork and increased track to warrant some of the price differential.  Mercedes AMG Line variants of their normal models can look almost identical to their full on AMG models.

Seriously though in M2C the C stands for 'Competition'.

It's just the name they gave to the tweaked version when they facelifted it. 10% more power from a different engine (almost certainly the change is primarily driven by emissions), and a couple of other minor tweaks.

And thus they sucker the gullible in to "must upgrade".

The M2C was a smart move by BMW.  It got the "right" engine (which was a criticism of the M2) and enough enhancements to keep it competitive in the marketplace.

Someone previously running an M2 may have went to another brand but the M2C probably kept a lot of current buyers happy.

All three of my cars are 3.0 litre petrol six cylinder BMWs.

Its a nicer sound in a world of four pot turbos.

I suspect there's more than a few posters wondering if they would be accused of bragging.....
Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience?

Why? So you can argue with them?

And welcome Freds alter ego!  I was wondering when you would appear.

Two are 14 years old and wont depreciate, and the other cost us less than the equivalent four pot Honda Civic or Seat Leon.

Anyone can drive a BMW, most are nothing special price wise.  We happen to like some of their cars and we've a BMW specialist mechanic just up the road if needs be.

Preference of engine type != bragging.

Just because you've been called out on bragging before doesnt mean the rest of us do it.

Lol,,,THREE 6 CYL BMW's having previously accused others of 'bragging' about their choices!
What a massive hypocrite. You never 'called' anyone 'out' because you were caught out first saying one thing here (MSE) and the polar opposite elsewhere....funny!
Did you buy the van also? FOUR vehicles....
