There was always traffic passing and the noise was worse when it was raining, the swoosh swoosh of the tyres on the wet road was worse than the engine noise.0

If only you were able to spend a night or two in a house before you buy it!2

I would definitely not assess any likely traffic noise at present as it's a completely false situation with a large number of people still working from home.
As the saying goes, location, location, location. It's the one thing you can never change but only you can judge whether the noise and pollution of queuing traffic is something you think is an acceptable trade off1 -
All of the houses I have lived in since leaving home have been on corner plots!
The first was a large victorian villa on a very busy route into Sheffield. There was a lot of traffic noise but you do get used too it and it never really bothered us.
The second a 1930's semi in a similar setting to the one you like with a busy A Road to the side and a reasonably busy road to the front. This one was well set back from the road and didn't suffer the noise of the first house despite the A road being busier.
Our current home is in a new build estate again on a corner on what will be a quite road once construction traffic has finished in the next few months. We found it very odd for the first few weeks just how quiet it is here, especially at night.
You do get used to your surroundings and the noise. If the house is right for you then go for it.1 -

The layout works so much better for us and there is no wasted space unlike the other two properties. It is also easy to maintain and keep clean, having the extra bathroom means it is easier when guests stay over (when allowed!) and the utility and running costs are extremely low. It is also detached as apposed to the previous two semi's and that is something that we are really enjoying.
They are still building on site a few doors away from us but when they have finished the handful of remaining plots in this phase we won't even notice they are there.0 -

Is the house double glazed? That will make a big difference.
