The main bedroom is at least on the quieter road rather than the main one. I expect you'd get used to any increase in traffic noise quickly enough.

I'm so torn about it at the moment, as the house is beautiful, but the road noise I worry might grind on me. It's the only negative for me with the house. I was thinking perhaps planting a nice beech hedge along the front to match what is being grown at the side of the house, as well as what the neighbour next door has done (albeit not as high as they have left it go). At least a hedge I was thinking would buffer the sound somewhat and offer a bit more privacy especially when I plan to have 1 or 2 children! Thoughts?

    Handy for the post box.
The road does not look busy but it is an A road.  I would still want to see it at peak times of day.

Haha yes the post box is handy. I took a walk there this evening along the road and there was about 3-4 cars every minute. So I guess to some that is busy road, but to others that's a quiet road!

You might want to check outside of the current Covid situation. There'll be a lot more under 'normal' circumstances.

That's very true, but who knows when normality (if ever) will return! Closing date for my house is this Friday, and all going well we will be concluding towards the end of the month/start of July so I'm afraid I won't have the opportunity to see what it's like after lockdown!

My brother lived in a first floor maisonette in a similar position to that house and the noise was horrible. In the living room at the front you couldn’t have a conversation or hear the telly with the window open.

Thank you all for the comments and your thoughts so far. It's just good to get other opinions. I feel like I might just go ahead with it. It's the only fault with the place (I hope)! Hopefully making small alterations to make the place more private may help with noise somewhat, but also I hope I just get used to the noise of traffic!

Is it possible to share a street view of the property just for comparison please?

It does not look that busy in the street view, but in rush hour the traffic was queuing stationary past the house for 2 hours a day,   When busses stopped outside the windows rattled.  There was always traffic passing and the noise was worse when it was raining, the swoosh swoosh of the tyres on the wet road was worse than the engine noise.
