this is greedy and dishonest. I can't stand it when ppl make up or exaggerate injuries after car accidents etc.
How would you like it if you had an accident that you were found to be at fault for and they took you to the cleaners for fake injuries?
    It's fraud.

Is it also fraud that if you do develop pain that stops you working later on, and the insurers say - "no you're not allowed to claim it's too late". At these speeds leading onto a motorway and being shunted into another car you may expect injuries like these.

I am not saying remove your brake light bulbs and drive around slamming on the brakes, I am saying make the best of the situaation because you may get pain later and not be able to do anything about it.

Yes you are injured, you have whiplash ;). Get yourself off to the doctors ASAP and complain of pain/aches in your neck and back. Do it before you do get the pain as the insurers won't be so willing to pay out saying you left it too long (it's later on you get the pain). ;) Consider it compensation and money for a better car.

I think you are aiming at a fraudlant suggestion, my post was in relation to get all the facts right in the first place.

Whiplash tends to develop after the incident. You have been smashed into and injured, but the pain often does not develop until later on - at which point insurers refuse to consider any claims. Even if you have to take weeks off work to recouperate.

Your car may also be worth much more than the insurance company is willing to pay out and who's ripping who off there then?!

As someone who has been left disabled as a result of accidents, I am sure you can appreciate the amount of damage a car shunting you like this could do, and that all the damage may not be immediately obvious.

What are you basing this on? What is the time limit on insurance claims? I'm asking because I was hit by a car in 2005 when I was on my bike & I am still developing new problems with my neck & shoulders & they are being responsible & sorting it all out for me over 2 years later!

Any claim must be lodged within 3 years of the incident for a person over the age of 18, it differs if the accident happened b4 18

I'm not sure they will give you 'market' value (ie the average price of a car in Auto Trader) - IME they give you the 'trade' price, that they get from Glass's. That price is much less than the true market value.

Having said that, an acquaintance of ours wrote off his fairly new car, it was his fault, but a week or so later turned up with a similar car that was two years newer than the previous car! Would have loved to have known who he was insured with!

Another tip I had when someone crashed into the back of me last year, was to avoid signing any credit agreement that the accident recovery people (in my case it was Albany) send to you. Basically you would be signing to say that in the event that the other party disputed the claims, then you would be fully liable for the costs!!!

On the injury front, I wouldn't advocate fabricating any injuries. Apart from the reasons stated above, experts will know the typical type and location of any injuries that would occur in the type of accident you had and whether your injuries are genuine.
