Each time I read the post it comes out differently.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

If the insurance company writes it off it's hard lines but I wouldn't be happy driving a car that had been in a shunt so hard that the doors won't open.0

this is all from personal experience.
If the insurer assesses it as a write off, you get what market value would be for a similar car, based on mileage, age etc, try getting adverts both private and garage adds, as garages add on their commission,
make sure anything that is personal is taken out
gather all documents re car - services, parts etc
liability = at the mo take this with a pinch of salt, as the driver may of admitted liability to you by tthe time the ins companies get involved its a different kettle of fish
police - are they involved - get names, numbers and stations
have you got legal cover on your policy - if yes you want a solicitor involved from the start,
injuries - is there any body been injured - not just your car - others
witnesses - get details and pass to your ins company
be prepared for a large loss on your car, sorry to say this, but as i said at the start from personal experience
mid 1997 - spent £3,000 car - brought from dealer
mid 2000 - car got wrote off ins valuation £300xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Yes you are injured, you have whiplash
. Get yourself off to the doctors ASAP and complain of pain/aches in your neck and back. Do it before you do get the pain as the insurers won't be so willing to pay out saying you left it too long (it's later on you get the pain).
Consider it compensation and money for a better car. 0 -
I think you should have just phoned a vehicle recovery firm. That's what we did when I wrote off our car several years ago. We never had to pay anything, I never even saw a bill -our insurance sorted it all out.
We paid £9100 for our car in 1997, and got £6300 from the insurance for it in 1999. I didn't think that was bad at all, especially considering it was a Nissan Serena! Only thing we didn't get was a hire car. You might manage to get one through the other driver's insurance.
I'm glad you're okay.0 -
re hire car - I was lucky I had hore car for 7 days from my insurer, this accident I was lucky the other driver admitted liability to me and his insurers, so his insurers paid fora hire car until my inspaid out,I thinkit was 6weeks for the payout for the carxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Spot on. This could easily double your payout.0 -

this is greedy and dishonest. I can't stand it when ppl make up or exaggerate injuries after car accidents etc.
How would you like it if you had an accident that you were found to be at fault for and they took you to the cleaners for fake injuries?
It's fraud."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0
