    A curious thing has happened. 2004 has been replaced in the available updates with a message saying it will appear there when it is ready for my system.
    Likewise ... it was there last week now isn't this week. :)

    It's probably because Microsoft have found a compatibility issue with your hardware.  Which is a good thing for you in a way, as it may mean less problems for you by not installing something that doesn't work.
    By all means you could use Microsoft's Update Assistant (here) to force the update on your machine, but I wouldn't recommend doing this just yet.
