Best option would be 4/5g wifi router assuming they get a signal. As long as you get unlimited data (otherwise the xbox will be expensive)

Sorry can I ask you one last question please ? Where does this plug into is it like the PS4 or Xbox or pc ? Thank you

Check the router specification but they should have Gigabit Ethernet sockets which you can attach (via a cat5/patch cable) to a PC/etc assuming your laptop gaming device doesn't support wifi...but most will support wifi.

Check what you need the router to do (wifi or cable or both)
Check what you needed to connect it to (does it support wifi/cat5 cable or both.
  • Sorry to highjack this thread, but in a very similiar position.
My sister only has BT landline, she now needs internet access (recently obtained a job) given Cronavirus she's spent weeks trying to get through to BT, with no luck,
She'd prefer to keep her BT landline number, what options does she have considering she only need internet access for emails
The comparison sites for "internet" are somewhat confusing

I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you

    Choices are
    1. Stick with BT (if you can ever get through) and upgrade to some sort of broadband package. If it is just email and a bit of browsing you won't need a top of the range package. They will send you a router and normally won't need to visit.
    2. Move to another internet service provider. Most will use the same telephone line and normally you can keep your number
    3. Consider Virgin if your area is cabled
    4. Consider using your mobile phone as a wifi hot spot but before you do make sure you understand how much data you need.

Can she not just sign up via BT web page .

Paying for landline already .Add BT broadband on top of that will keep number .
Though BB just for emails is rather overkill .
Has she got a mobile phone if so consider using that for emails .

Yes, she has a mobile, but wouldn't she need internet access?

She's been on hold with BT for an hour each and everytime she call's, which is several times a day

If it is just for e mails then Google mail on a smart phone will do the job
