Hi can anyone help me please - my sister does not have a phone line in her house they don’t have WiFi but she needs it urgently so she can access her emails, search the web etc and her kids can go on their PS4 and Xbox . Can I get her something today that will get her instant internet access . I’ve looked at Argos routers etc but because I’m not very tech I don’t want to buy the wrong thing - any help and advice is gratefully received thank you

The only realistic possibility is via mobile phone or satellite if you need it immediatelyI am not a cat (But my friend is)0

Thank you for your reply But doesn’t it drain mobile battery and also the cost - she’s spent £40 today on one of them downloading and setting his up Xbox one s - i don’t know what you mean by satellite and wouldn’t one of those router things work ?0

Anyone else have any advice please thanks0

You don’t say what is available , if VM is available, then broadband can be had without a phone line, Openreach based services generally ‘need’ a phone line, but the bundle price can be similar to VM stand-alone broadband price, or cheaper , but if neither is currently installed , then obviously installation needs to be arranged , with whatever lead time that area has.
Mobile can work ( a 3/4/5G MiFi ) , but can be limited bandwidth , so may not be suitable for households that are heavy users, it could be set up quickly, ( buy it, set it up, and go ) but it may not be that cheap if unlimited data needed, or that consistent

There are, probably, two realistic choices
1. A telephone line with broadband from BT or any other ISP that serves you. They will supply the router (indeed no point in any router unless you have a telephone line). It will take a while to install. Once done you can have a package with unlimited data.
2. Setting up a mobile. You will need adequate data and going over the plan can be expensive but it can be done quite quickly. worth checking mobile plans for this for the mobile company that your sister subscribes to.1 -
Not going to get instant access today or in a few days except for mobile networks .PS4 and XBox are going to chew through data and work out as ££££ per month .OP a router needs to be connected to a broadband service .If going down the VM / Or phone line cable route its unlikely to happen quickly as not a priority .1

Best option would be 4/5g wifi router assuming they get a signal. As long as you get unlimited data (otherwise the xbox will be expensive)
