Good list hypno. Must admit I've given up on surveys lately as they all seem to be under 50p for me at the moment.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 208 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts DEBT FREE DECEMBER 2008!!!0

Ok, 2008 hmmmm.
-I will keep up with the not buying food at work as another poster said I go to work to earn money not to spend it.
-I will sign up to more survey sites and take out the free dvd trials on Quidco
-I will look into free bingo and possibly matched betting
-I will be unsecured debt free by mid 2008
Once I am unsecured debt free I will
-Let myself have spending money and treat myself to something every month
-Open a savings account for yearly bills and also put some money aside for a cheap holiday
-Open an ISA, even if I only save 50 quid a month
-Make op on my mortgageDebt Free - done
Mortgage Free - done

Hi all,
This thread is a great idea.
This year i have:
1) trained as a holistic therapist (basic level)
2) made big inroads into recovering from depression
3) Had my lightbulb moment.
In 2008, I will:
1) keep a spending diary
2) take packed lunches to work
3) not get cabs to and from the train station
4) spend within my means
5) end the year with some savings.
Its hard to be specific on amounts, depending on what happens in january (see my diary thread), so the list above might get reviewed in January.

Things to do differently in 2008.
Not have a bad start to the year, the first 3 months this year has put back my DFD by a year.
I want to learn properly to invest money I make, wether it be stocks, or pension or savings, becoming debt free would have been pointless if i didnt continue.
Also start Overpaying a mortgage (if the time is right to buy by then)

Next year (well begining now really)
1) I pledge to stay debt free (my debt free date is Friday the 7th of December 07).
2) Save some money every week
3) Start making overpayments on the mortgage
4) Lose weight - really giving it my all - I'm going to start by going for a run tonight - its not going to be easy and I'm totally dreading it
5) Try and become pregnant
Hmm - not sure how 4 & 5 are going to both happen - I'll try and lose as much weight as I can before I become pregnant ..............
6) Keep up to date on ALL paperwork - this morning for example have ransacked the house looking for MOT Cert etc to tax car
7) Make my husband a wonderful packed lunch for work every day
8) Try and find a part time job that would fit in around the family
9) Do some voluntary work - say a couple of hours a week local riding for the disabled - I used to do this before I became pregnant with my son a few years ago and have been meaning to get back into it - its just finding the time - I need to manage my time better I think.
10) Declutter my house - beginning with the loft .............. there are boxes in there that say Bed1/2/3 from when we moved 4 years ago - so if we haven't missed it in 4 years its going
That should keep my going for a while
Good luck everyone0 -
Fab thread

In 2008 I hope to:
*Pay off our only CC which is at 0% - I have opened a high interest savings account to save up for this. We don't spend anything on the CC it's just a few years worth of balance transfers, and I feel it's high time we got rid of it.
*Be overdraft free at the end of every month - we're doing pretty well with this since September now we have 2 wages coming in.
*End the year with some savings
Good luck all - let keep each other posted with our progress (my life is far too boring to have my own debt diary - nobody would read it, so I like these threads where I can update and keep track
) *** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
Hi,
What a good idea. My New years resolutions are usually forgotten by 3rd Jan - writing them here might give me more will power.
I aim to keep going with all of the things I have started this year. These include
-taking packed lunch to work.
-not going for pub lunch on Friday (find this really hard)
-keep spending diary.
-only buying what I need.
Next year I aim to
-save spare change for Christmas (sealed pot challenge)
-have a 'free' christmas by saving vouchers from Pigsback and survey sites.
-try not to say 's@d it' and book a holiday with money I don't have.
-pay back the £2000 I have just had to borrow for new boiler  before
the 0% runs out in July.
-try to be more organised - not just with money, but with life in general.
-be determined not to let all the hastle I am having in work at the minute
get me down.
-alternatively find a new, less stressful job.
Most importantly - HAVE SOME FUN (in a MSE way of course)
This year feels it has all been about work, work, work.
Good luck everyone.0 -
This thread is great. It's really making me think about new goals for 2008.
In 2007, I have...
started taking packed lunches to work
found a cheap place for haircuts
devised a budget and (mostly) stuck to it
opened a seperate bills account to avoid any bank charges
reclaimed my previous bank charges
sold anything that wasn't nailed down
HALVED MY DEBT!!!:j
In 2008, I will...
take on extra work projects for more cash
keep trimming my budget...it's amazed me how little I need to live on
get creative with presents for friends and family
find out what the clicks thing is and do it
try matched betting
start saving
get rid of my debt totally
Good luck everyone:DIf you know you have enough, you're rich.

Loving this thread.
Since my lightbulb moment last month,
Ive already started keeping a spending diary,
Budgeted a meal planner
Stopped getting money out everyday, even managed to bypass shops without buying choc/mag/coke
Always look for codes/coupons, doing online shops
Using Pigsback.quidco
Sold a few things on ebay
Cancelled old store cards
Switched bills suppliers
Started savings
In 2008 hopefully will eradicate my overdraft
Start as I mean to go on,
Be basically a much more money consious person
Start saving a lot more.
