MSE Poll: Have you got a summer holiday booked?

Poll started 9 June 2020

It's (meteorological) summer, so normally getaway season. Yet coronavirus has put a halt to nearly all travel, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is still warning Brits against all non-essential foreign trips. So we want to know what your holiday plans are – and how they've changed in light of the pandemic.

Not any more.  It wasn't a surprise but my flight to Albania for 24th June was cancelled today.  Will be cancelling accommodation shortly.
Still hopeful for Morocco in September.

For our Silver wedding anniversary this year we planned to go back, in September, to the places in the USA and Canada that we went to on our honeymoon.  It's what we said we'd do during our honeymoon, so has been 25 years in the planning and anticipating.  Lots of family wanted to come too, from 3 different locations in UK, so we finally managed to piece together a plan involving me and hubby cruising to NY on the QM2, some of the family joining us there a few hours later after flying in.  We'd then spend a couple of days travelling to one of our planned destinations, where the rest of the family would meet up, and we'd have most of the rest of the holiday travelling around together, before all catching relevant flights home to different UK airports at roughly the same time.  We also have 9 dogs that we had to plan for whilst we were away.  It was a total headache putting it all together to make it work.  Today our cruise was cancelled.  One family member is in her 80's, so vulnerable, and shouldn't travel.  Everyone else wants to postpone till next year or whenever we can take the planned holiday together.  No idea if we can get refunds for the flights (seems unlikely) so have lost loads of money between us.  Dread the thought of having to plan it all again, plus my mobility is decreasing, so may not be able to do everything we want if waiting a year, and don't know if the eldest member will be up to it either.  Such a shame.

The No - holiday cancelled category should have been split down to 2 categories, not just one. Cancelled by holiday company decision or cancelled by yourself. Many people, like me, will have cancelled ALL travel plans for the remainder of this year.

My hols to Florida are for 16th September. Still hoping to go.
  • We have Route 66 booked for August, flying with Norwegian air and using Hertz! Kiss of death me 😂
We will go if everything opens up, tired of the nonsense around it, it's a 0.06% fatality rate IF you catch it. I just tested negative after being around a lot of infected people as an emergency worker, so you have to be very unlucky to get it.
Companies can't survive the summer if they don't operate, big business will force the government to open up and get other countries to do the same. 🤞
Hope we all get to go, otherwise it's Northumberland and a cottage by the sea!

I can't see holiday operators etc. ever agreeing to customers having the right to cancel a holiday (without loss of deposit and applicable balance) based on the customer having a change of mind option.

9 of us booked for Vegas at end of September to celebrate mine and my husbands 30th wedding anniversary.  Only paid a low deposit (£25 each). Virgin Holidays have offered a free cancellation or re book for next year or go ahead with holiday.  Payment in full due 20th June, waiting to the last minute to decide but will unfortunately probably have to rebook for next year due to quarantine rules 😔

If you cancel it yourself, don't you lose any rights to a refund (disinclination to travel)?
