Sue RCIB

I am looking for others who have been scammed by RCIB to bring a collective legal action for damages.
I am looking for free legal representation for those who have been scammed and to save millions of others being ripped off. I bought insurance on compare the market with RCIB on 4.5.6. They increased the price of my premium when they had my money, refused to refund and tried to take over £1k out of my account until my bank stopped them for fraud. I have reported them to Fraud Action. I am starting a campaign to stop them doing this to anyone else.

If you believe that you are due damages / compensation, have you made a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman? It's free.

Here's an example of complaint made against that same company - the Ombudsman ordered them to refund overpayments and fees plus 8% interest - plus £950  as compensation for the stress, upset and inconvenience.
    See: https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/files/137934/DRN5445016.pdf

    Edit to add...
You'd need to follow the company's complaints procedure before complaining to the Ombudsman. They document their procedure and give contact details for the Ombudsman here: https://www.rcib.co.uk/help/complaint-guide/

And don't start any litigation before the Ombudsman has investigated your complaint.

Thanks Eddy. I have written a detailed email to their complaints department outlining the theft from my account. I will follow this up with the FCA. I will update with their response but I believe this company owes a lot of people a lot of money and there should be a collective legal challenge to their business:)

Just to be clear - it's the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) you complain to, not the FCA. You'll need the final response letter from the company.

You can certainly encourage others to do the same, if you want.  You're likely to get a better outcome from the Ombudsman than from a court - for example, in the case mentioned above, it's unlikely that a court would have ordered a payment of £950 for stress, upset and inconvenience.

Thanks I will contact FCO if they don’t resolve the complaint with compensation.
You have helped me at this very difficult time:)

You can search the Ombudsman for similar cases, it even allows you to search just for RCIB cases

    https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/data-insight/ombudsman-decisions
If RCIB have not allowed a pro rate refund of premium less any clearly disclosed fees then you may be able to claim a refund of these back, if you post up what they have charged you we may be able to help on this

That’s really helpful. I’ll wait and see what they come back with. I’ve set up a campaign on Linked In to sue them. They are a bunch of con artists and businesses should not operate like criminal organisations. The FCO or police should have shut them down ling ago!

Are you referring to Right Choice Insurance Brokers, based in Romford?  If so, the company's rated 1.3/5 on Google - which isn't very good.  Every other reviewer seems to be complaining of similar behaviour: premiums being increased after the policy was purchased, hidden charges, cancellation fees etc.  What exactly has happened?

Their main crime was taking money from my bank account without my permission—saying the policy was double the price I had been quoted and then taking 3 payments out of my account in a few hours totalling over £1k without permission. They are listening to the tapes and the case is being investigated by Action Fraud. Freezed my account to stop them taking unauthorised payments.

That seems, according to the reviews, par for the course with RCIB.  Has the company claimed that you failed to disclose something at the time the policy was taken out, or otherwise changed the terms of the original agreement as justification for taking more money?  If I were you I'd also stop driving the car, just in case RCIB do the dirty and cancel your insurance.  You don't want to add criminal convictions to your list of woes.

I already cancelled it and took out insurance elsewhere. It was a phone conversation so I’m getting a recording sent to me. There was no paperwork for the new policy so they had no justification for emptying my bank account. Will keep you posted:)
