Do Bank Customers have any Rights?

Barclays appear to have credited an incorrect sum of money into the wrong bank account. They refuse to acknowledge their error or apologise. The financial ombudsman service has been less use than a chocolate fireguard. Could anyone tell me whether there is a website which details the 'rights' of a bank account holder?
This is the short version of a long unfinished story which has been bugging me for coming up to a year now. Any suggestions to help me find a satisfying conclusion would be much appreciated.

It sounds as if you have already gone through the complaints process with Barclays and with the FOS, that they have not found in your favour, and that you have reached the end of the road with whatever the issue was. The decision of the FOS is final.0

All ombudsman decisions are in the public domain
Can you give us the DRN reference so we can see what they said about the whole thing

You can appeal the ombudsman's decision - but you have to have a valid reason to do so - disagreeing with the original verdict is not one.0

Appear is a very strange term to use?PeopleMatter said:Barclays appear to have credited an incorrect sum of money into the wrong bank account. They refuse to acknowledge their error or apologise. Was there some customer error involved here?Life in the slow lane0 -
Wow, two mistakes? Incorrect sum of money and into the wrong bank account. In nearly 40 years of banking with Barclays I've never had them make one mistake so you've been really unfortunate to cop two in one go.PeopleMatter said:Barclays appear to have credited an incorrect sum of money into the wrong bank account.

I'm guessing here - let say customer A had a sole account and a joint account with customer B.
Funds allegedly to be credited to Sole account was in 'error' paid into joint account. Customer B then withdrew the lot and buggered off!2 -

How would you know what amount was credited into this wrong bank account? The only way to know is if it is your own.
The financial ombudsman service has been less use than a chocolate fireguard.in other words, they didnt find in your favour. However, it doesnt mean they haven't been useful. What is the DRN for the FOS decision. It would help us understand what exactly has gone on and we can then provide guidence based on that.
