I've done lots of OU courses.

Year 3 level programming and Year 3 level databases/data modelling - so not easy ones where you just read stuff. I did all these while working full time and running a home.

As for food on £10-15/week. I have always said I feed myself on under £10/week. And during November I kept a VERY strict (EVERY penny) spending diary to see. And yes, I do. And that's not really skimping, just buying clever.

However, I will admit to the fact that if you have a car and access to large supermarkets the figure is more doable than if you have no transport and no supermarkets close by as it does rely often on luck/timing/being able to pop in and see what's on offer today.
  • I'm sorry!?

You have 7 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 52 weeks a year. Of doing what?

And you have to 'balance' things?!

You don't even have a home to run, or kids, or, oh yer, a job taking up your week!

It's escalated cus it's quite clear your trying to explain why people may be on the dole, but it's turned into yet another clear case of 'But but but'.

You don't need to be on the dole. You have chosen it as a lifestyle choice now. This is clear in what your typing. Especially the 'I have a fund' thing.

Were all trying to help you. We have all come up with good suggestions. Your coming up with a load of bull$hit.

And now your food costs your more than £15-£20 a week, LOL
Bills too and rent, and clothes and bus tickets to anywhere. It's not a lifestyle choice, and I don't see how it can be. OU courses are equivalent to a part time job in hours. The dole take anything over £5 off of my money- I don't just get to keep it! So, therefore I would have to be earning over £50 a week in surveys and comps to be better off. And yes I do have a house to keep- because my mum is working and I am not I do all the housework.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

where do you live? (im in llandudno) surely their is a job centre closer to you if you live 1 hr and half from here
Nope, you're the nearest :( it's only 20 miles or so, near betws-y-coed, but it takes so long because of the bus connections

If you are doing all of the housework, why are you paying rent? Do either one or the other, not both. If you stopped doing both would your parents kick you out?

Why aren't you eating the same food as your parents? If you stopped buying your own food, would your parents let you starve?

If you can reduce these two unnecessary bills (rent and food), then perhaps you would have more money to help you find work.

You have said a few times that you can't get to the nearest town by public transport at normal working times. If your parents don't work, could one of them take you? If they do work, can't they get you a job with them?
No, it's complex, but it isn't really possible.

It's not me who makes the rules though is it? I just give the money to my mum, and she buys food and electric, pays the rent etc. I do the housework because I know what I give her doesn't cover my share and I have to do something to help.

I think this may be my last post.

A part time job is 16 hours a week. Thats less than 2 days working. You have 5 other days. You have evenings, just like the rest of us.

The dole does not take your money. It's not your money to begin with. If you feel £20 a month is a lot to pay for what your getting for it, think again.

I never, ever, said to stop the dole and do surveys. I never said you would need to earn £50 a week.

I said 'SAVE up £1000'. It is EASILY done. Pasturesnew has stated she does it, and it is easy.

You don't need to 'earn' £50 per week. You literally save 1k. However, if your put your mind to it, just from this website, you should be able to take 1k within a month.

Your still using your dole money, this 1k is to further yourself, so you can move on and up.

Every single, workable solution which has been put forward to you over 9 pages you have said 'but' or 'cant' to.

Every single one of them, you can, you just come up with feeble excuses.

You have a house to clean do you? And a part time 'do it whenever it suits you' course?

I can see why you can't possibly do anything else

No, I have'nt. while I have been sitting here I have been following up leads, I have sent off for a brochure of a company that offers accomodation and Murhpy the cats idea is brilliant and I am going to go research it. My "excuses" are hardly feeble- I cant get a !!!!!!! job. I want a job. I am trying to get a job.
