People on the dole

Bogof_Babe wrote: »Well my take on all this, for what it's worth, is that your parents are at the root of all your troubles TD. At 20 you should not be in their control to the extent that it seems you are. They have wrecked your education, appear to be taking most of your dole money off you, and not once have you said that they are in any way supporting your search for work. I imagine you are an only child - do correct me if I'm wrong. Also the falling out with all the neighbours thing - what's that all about? Are they living in the real world?
If I were you I would apply for a live-in job in a hotel, anywhere in the country or even overseas, and start making your own life. In fact that's exactly what I did, aged 21 - I left home and worked as a receptionist in a hotel in Brecon, helping out in the bars and restaurant when I was not on reception duty. It was great fun, and I learnt a lot about myself and what I wanted to do with my life. It broke the apron strings and made me an adult in my own right.I am a only child, never knew it was obvious though
The neighbours are unfathomable though and not my parents fault, they just basically took a dislike and stuck to it, kept niggling until someone snapped, and if you fall out with one you fall out with the entire family, and here that means half the village if not more :undecided I've sent off for a application brochure thingy for a live in erm something
:o, from the pictures it looks like they specialise in adventure holidays so perfect for me cos I love to be around people like that
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -
That's good - see you are already starting to sound more positive and less defeatist.
It's way past my bedtime now, so I'm logging off, but I hope you continue to consider all the options that everyone has suggested, because you will sort something out, honest - we all do in the end. Night night

I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I kind of meant though that they have split up this year and well, have their own lives and own problems, but yeah I will have to hassle him a bit for a drive, he doesn't get much time but a hour a week won't kill him now will itThis is my opinion. Strongly agree with Bogof_Babe. My younger siblings were "home educated" which basically involved putting up educational posters when the social workers came to visit, and nothing else. Us older ones managed to get some education up to early teens, but it really screwed up our life chances.
I have yet to meet anyone home educated who did not have to get real qualifications later in life, while our contemporaries were out building careers. Add in lack of confidence, and inability to deal with others in a social situation, and you have a recipe for disaster.
The more I think about it, the more I hope you are quietly planning to escape from your current situation. You should be socialising with others your age, at work and elsewhere. There is nothing like independence to give you a whole new perspective on life.Been away for a while.0 -
Why not try for a job overseas. Somewhere that provides accomodation and enough money to get by. Could be the making of you. Even if it doesn't work out, you'll get some life experience and a new perspective on things.
For most young people I normally recommend at least 2 years of sleeping around, taking illegal drugs (low grade beaver tranquillizers can be obtained from a vet and can be mixed with cider), seeing how much you alcohol can drink without passing out and playing poker. Since you seem more keen to look for a job, I won't in your case.0 -
I have thought of a solution to all your problems Turkishdelight. You marry me and I'll look after you. After all you are a gorgeous Welsh womanFriendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings

I'm sorry, really, really sorry.
There are no jobs.
I have no qualifications.
I do everything I can- honestly I do. (well, lets put it this way, I have never lied to the jobcentre, I am in fact doing more than they ask)
Well get off your @rse and get some qualifications then. There are umpteen out there that are free or government funded or whatever.
If you really want to get a job, and if you really want to get that dream job, then you're gonna have to work your @rse off to get it. You get out what you put in and it's not a cliche!
If you can't be bothered or don't want to then fine. But like you say, this is the only pub you can afford to go to and thats how it should be (not that you were arguing any different)
