Different company number to that relating to the FCA record which Sourcrates refers? Yes. Different company completely? Also yes.
It would probably assist if the OP could confirm which company is specified as the alleged purchaser in the notice received, as opposed to who said notice directs the consumer to contact regarding repayment. I'm pretty sure you'll find it to be the company attributed reference 04140507.
Now we've established that, try searching the alleged purchaser by its incorporated name or separate reference 04140507 on the FCA register. Try both if you wish.
Not authorised/unknown to the FCA? Yes once again.
Anyone receiving correspondence from these types of firms, and Intrum especially, should seek professional legal advice. Being advised blind that a company is authorised to undertake the work it does, when it is not, simply is of detriment and of no assistance.
As for it not being suspicious it having taken so long for a consumer to be provided with an alleged agreement, or any document for that matter, simply because one financial house has to request it from another financial house; have carrier pigeons also been furloughed this past year?
So where do you get that number from, for all I know you could have just tossed me a random made up number.
Non of this really helps the OP, does it, I am no fan at all of these companies, but your post appears to be clutching at straws somewhat.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Have Intrum ever taken anyone to court? I remember dealing with them years ago over an old LloydsTSB and AUQA credit card. They did send photocopies of signed credit agreements for both (both back when everything was paper based, even the LloydsTSB card was taken out in branch!) and they sent a 100 page file of all previous statements on the LloydsTSB card. They still didn't take anything further. They are all long gone statute barred now though and not heard from them in years.

And, yes again, "Intrum UK Finance Limited" are not FCA registered, but another company with a slightly different name are.
As ZCars1878 said, it would depend on whose name the debt was bought under, worth taking advice on I agree.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
