Intrum Instalment Review

I've received my annual statement through showing I owe just over £3000 from an Egg loan back in the early 2000's. Intrum first purchased the debt in 2007 and I've been paying it off ever since. It's due to be paid off in late 2024/early 2025. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on Intrum accepting partial offers to settle early? Thanks in advance.

As a first step I'd be tempted to do a cca request as it's very old.
See what they can produce and if they can't then it's zero or a very low offer to settle.1 -
Thanks fatbelly, I've sent off my CCArequest. Let's see what they say.May 2020

Egg loans/credit cards were notorious back in the day, for not having correct paperwork, i`d take a punt on your`s being unenforcable.

So, to give you an update, I've sent off my CCA request via recorded delivery. I don't know if I just give them a few weeks and call them to confirm they have received my CCA request and what the progress is?May 2020

I don't know if I just give them a few weeks and call them to confirm they have received my CCA request and what the progress is?The process works something like this.Once your request is recieved, intrum will either -(A) Deny its their responcibility, and write and tell you so, or(B) Pass the request back to the original creditor, as is their duty under guidence.Lets assume they pass it on, the OC will then undertake to find your information on its systems, they may be successful, they may not, the information they must provide depends on the age of the account in question, but usually they just send all they have on you, if anythng. What they do send you may require an experts view to determine enforcability, that can be advised on at a later date.Expect the whole thing to take up to a year, don`t expect the creditor to keep you in the loop, some do, some don`t, you don`t need do anything else, once your request is sent and recieved, the account is automatically put on hold, and deemed to be (temporarily) unenfoceable, until such time the creditor provides what has been asked for, however long that may be.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks for detailing for process. I'm still paying the account down. Should I stop/reduce payments?May 2020

There is no legal requirement to pay the debt whilst a CCA request is been actioned, so its entirely up to you.

Any news from your CCA?0

Hi. Well I’ve cancelled my DD and Intrum called me yesterday to discuss it. I told them I’d submitted the CCA and I had confirmation they’d signed for it. As it stands they’re now aware I only want communication via post and that if they can’t find the original credit agreement, then I won’t be paying them again. I’m quite confident that they won’t find anything to be honest. The lady I spoke to didn’t sound too clued up on what to say to me.May 2020

Well it's been a further 11 days now and still nothing from Intrum. They've had more than their 12 working days to find any trace of an agreement and I've had nothing! It's looking good so far. Thank you to everyone for the advice and on other posts where I've read some very useful information on CCA's.May 2020
