I notice everyone is concerned with the shock risk, it's worth bearing in mind this isn't the only risk. A significant risk is that you end up with a broken ring circuit, which would function but could also cause a fire at a later date. The risk is that each wire in the ring is only good for 16 or 20 amps, yet the circuit is on a 32 amp breaker. When its done properly and tested its a safe enough arrangement, if it's altered later and a bad joint is made it becomes unsafe, a proper electrician will test this after replacing a socket

A todays electrician has been and gone, socket cannot be replaced.
It's deemed to be connected from Eco7 previous storage heater, which had been removed and replaced with my sometimes posted 2kw fan heater.
Which means my socket is only going to work from 23:15 approx until 08:15 approx each day.
Offered possibility of another socket being added and run from another standard living room socket.
I politely declined, though forgot I have an existing standard socket which the 2kw is plugged into during winter.
I'll run of of two existing extension leads from this socket during  w.f.h. -thankfully not diagonally across living room though across base of 2kw fireplace.
    Thanks mser;'s

Well done for getting the electrician in Steve. Did you use the emergency call out one you have insurance cover for?
I'm puzzled why he didn't replace it or perhaps it wasn't faulty after all but just not being powered during the day? Was it where this storage heater was or is this another one in your property?

Storage heaters are normally wired via fused spurs, not 13A plugs. Are the old economy 7 circuits still wired back to those old fuses in your original pictures? Are there any other storage heaters connected that you still use?

The reason I ask is it is possible to connect your dual rate meter into your main CU so that all electricity you use at night is cheaper. I have this set up in my house and always set the washing machine/dishwasher/tumble dryer to run at night. I don't have any separate circuits that are only via the economy 7 feed. Your consumer unit would need to be split if these circuits were still live.
With the problems you've had with decaying broken fittings (cooker connections, light bulb fittings and now a socket) I highly recommend you pay an electrician to check and make good your electrics. It looks like stuff in your home is deteriorating to the extent it's dangerous.

Do bear in mind, many extension leads are only good for 10A or so, especially the cheap ones. So don't extend an extension lead by plugging another one in to it, and never leave it unattended with a high power appliance plugged in - Things like fan heaters should never be run off an extension lead anyway.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

As mentioned I can use extension lead from other side of 2kw fire which is standard socket, no needs to extend extension leads, thanks.
I was offered a new socket with back plate etc-which would have been fitted on wall next to that eco7 type socket, the wiring was to be run from another standard socket which is used for t.v. Etc only a short run though way above my physical capabilities. Cost wise was going to very generous 70 pounds inclusive of all parts required, and a bit of cable run type covering.
Only declined as it wasn't what I had booked, and I have delayed Car Service fast approaching 9th June.
This concludes this thread as I'll use my recently purchase extension when w.f.h. Tomorrow, only forgot about the wall socket from 2kw fan fire is not often used..
    Thanks mser's
