Echoing that of those above, always test for power regardless of the switched being flipped at the consumer unit.  A socket in my old house was still live after isolation; it was being fed by next door.  God knows how that happened.

The OP is clearly not competent/confident (no offence intended) and doesn't really know what they're doing, otherwise they wouldn't be asking questions, especially on a money-saving forum.
The best option for the OP is to switch off the whole installation - though even that won't totally guarantee safety as Grenage has pointed out above!  No competent person would trust a circuit breaker, even if it was clearly labelled - they would ALWAYS test as well.

In  my home includes DIY Money Saving -could very well save the cost of local electrician.
    Thanks

That's what concerned me, but as Steve is determined to do it himself, he should read up as much as possible first.
I wonder if he could call back the electrician that fixed his attempt at wiring a cooker?

Sure you could save the cost of an electrician.  You could also kill yourself because you clearly don't know what you're doing.
    Your choice.

PS:  If you really are going to do this work, I'd recommend getting a socket tester first: https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-ms6860d-socket-tester/91596

    Thanks all reply's today.
Local electrician supplying+installing socket, possibly tomorrow.
maybe I'll ask what is required to de-install the old consumer box part in cupboard, though not arranging immediately.

If they fail and go short circuit, you are exposing yourself to full mains potential which could kill. Some people call them "Death sticks" for that reason.
