Hiya hypno, just a quick post to say I'm glad your first week has gone well, and that the voucher reached you safe and well. Have a good day xxMFW

Hiya hun
I think you're right to alter egg-buying first - the toxins that battery eggs put into your system don't bear thinking about. I must confess that even on my new low budget, I've stuck with organic free range eggs, and although I'll eat the occasional egg sarnie from a shop, I'm much happier if its from somewhere like M&S, where they've advertised the eggs are free range. I did make the concession to stop buying organic soya milk - 40p difference per litre, but I've just found out that at Asda the difference is only 2p per litre, so I'll be bulk buying there from now on. It is a dilemma in general tho, isn't it.
Just realised your "walk to the shop" post was over an hour ago, I wanted to share my cup of coffee with you! Well, anyway, I'm going to make another one, and since I've done my m.b. qualifier for today, I might actually get out into the garden!
Have a good day.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well, I feel some level of success and have done more thinking on the way to/from the shop!
I did find organic milk, and it was 30p a litre more than non organic. I did buy it though, and will continue to do so on the basis that until very recently we had our (non-organic) milk delivered which was more expensive than going to the supermarket for it. I have also only visited the village shop - I am assuming that when I do a "main" shop at the supermarket, I will be able to get it cheaper.
I also bought free range eggs. Egg and chips for dinner is one of my faves, and still works out cheap even with free rangers.
Finally, I bought two local red onions for my curry, and picked up some leaflets on locally sourced food.
I have to balance this all out - OH loves his meat, and won't be fussed where it comes from. If I go all "holier than thou" about it, he will not be impressed, so I will have to just be a savvy shopper, and a bit more of an "old styler" with my cooking!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. :rotfl:  :rotfl: Meeting hypno's students in a bar!!!! Nooooo! Laughed a lot at this thread - poor gemmzie, putting the youth viewpoint! I wonder if you'll go for the chickens? My house was built in the early 60s, but it deffo has a clause about no chickens. I don't think I'd want to at the mo, to be honest - the freedom thing that ZTD mentioned is important, even with a local person to look after them, I had so many years with the cats, and my life after the next few years could be very, very different.
Lazy morning, yum.... just a bit of time on m.b.ing, and then thats me too, mind you m.b.ing feels kind of lazy, I'm into it now! Hope your day goes well.
I work with them and really enjoy it, they are greatNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Just a thought, goat's milk/cheese/yogurt is organic, the St Helens farm range. Think it's a bit cheaper than organic cow's if you can make the switch. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

He will be. Since buying from the local farm, me, my parents, and the XOH have sworn to never buy meat from a supermarket again. They aren't fussed where it comes from, but they are fussed about the taste.
And for the benefit of all our "listeners" out there - time to plug this thread...
