A spam blocker on my account - REALLY

Options
I posted twice in separate threads within 2 minutes and then when trying to post again I got a spam blocker imposed on me and had to wait 5 minutes before posting again.

Surely I am a regular poster and that kind of stupid action should be reserved for new posters or is MSE wanting to stop people posting on the forum completely?

You probably need to slow down Duncan - you're running your dad ragged!  :p

You have posted 2 times within 240 seconds. A spam block is now in effect on your account. You must wait at least 600 seconds before attempting to post again.

Well that's one way of stopping people posting.

The forum team are aware that it is happening on a handful of accounts. They are working on it but for the time being, please bear with them and if possible give it a bit of time in between posting.
Please also ensure that you have emailed the team so they are aware of each individual at forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com

I think this is actually a global parameter on the forum and is thus happening to everybody if they post twice within 4 minutes (and then try to post a third time). I appreciate that its purpose is to discourage spammers, but it is collective punishment and actually hits the forum's most prolific posters hardest.

As a global setting it should take only a few seconds to change it back to something more reasonable.
In the longer term we need something that takes into account how long someone has been a member and/or how many posts they have made.

Better to vet new account applications more thoroughly in the first place to foil the spambots
