Barclays Savings Account - Online Banking Registration?

I'm sure I've tried calling their general customer services, but just get put into the same queue.

This is also what I thought, but the question mark against Account Type within the application process is worded to suggest that in order to register for online banking, you need 'at least one current account with us'.

Afraid I can’t think of anything else to suggest, apart from if you do manage to speak to someone on the phone or going to a branch, they will be able to create you an online banking membership even if you only hold a savings account with them.

Thanks for your suggestions mab3000.

I need to apply for a current account, but would have preferred to get online banking sorted and apply from within.  If I applied for a current account, I'm afraid of more hassle trying to get existing savings account linked to same profile?

Preferably you’d want to get your online banking sorted first. Although duplicate customer profiles can be merged together so all your accounts come under 1 profile, this isn’t as straight forward (but not a difficult task) as getting an online banking membership created over the phone or in branch.

Both options are part of my problem.  Branches near me aren't open and trying to get through on the phone is nigh on impossible.

Doea anyone else have any experience with registering for Barclays' online banking with a savings account without a current account?
