How DO you work the conveyer belt? I want to know! it would be good to make it go super fast!

When I started at Asda when I was a young whipper-snapper, the first branch I worked in had conveyors with a "magic eye" which did it all automatically. When the shopping reached the end, it would break the invisible beam of light and stop the conveyor.

I then transferred to Llandudno when I went to Uni, and they were pre-refit at the time. Their conveyors were pedal-operated, and I forgot to take my foot off quite a few times. Normally when I did this, the shopping ended up in my lap.

Hollypear - you'll have to remember your PLU's. I've been out from Asda for some 6 years now, but I still remember 608 - Tomatoes, 588 - Onions, 585 Mushrooms and the like. Have fun!

No probs Sinderalla. Would you like me to assess the train on my way down to you.. And in RE fashion would you like your lawn A) same level of shinyness as your neighbours B) You want to see your face in it. C) You want your postie landing on his bum next time he sneaks across it.

Excellent Hollypear, I had heard you knew a thing or two about the standards and care necessary for fake foliage...

    Good luck tomorrow

  • Good luck Hollypear, I've worked at ASDA before and you will find them not too bad, judging by your posts on here, you will be friendly enough.

Remember ASDA recruit on personality, not ability.

Hey guess what I am looking at your Gala bingo wins under your posts. I got a begging email today to do the one in ******* a large Ayrshire town but miles from Glasgow. I thought nah the fee wouldn't begin to cover the petrol. So I did another one tonight and guess what when arrived all the staff were bursting with the news as we went in. Someone in the Ayrshire ****** Gala club won the high fives this afternoon on number 5 so scooped the lot. £250,000. Aaaaaarggggghhh.[/quote]

Wooaaah! You can see how bingo gets addictive. When I was in one of the Plymouth ones someone in Torquay won £60,000...not quite as good.
Don't know if I'll get paid but when I saw the company left the payment box self-fill-in I added about £16 for my fuel. I figured I wouldn't normally be out in the evening so they were an extra expense. See it's not just you Glaswegians with a bit of neck, us West Country lasses are straight up, too..
Mind you according to the Exeter prices you quoted yesterday, it should have been £160! I see they'll beg when they need you to do the jobs even though they were saying do only 2 each wave, have you found that before that the rules get changed?

What a day! I got accepted by GFK and checked online to find an online bingo job available. Very pleased, then I read further and realised I couldn't do it as I'm already a member. What a shame!

So I then filled in the incredibly laborious TNS application questionnaire - boy did it go on? By the time I'd done I felt like banging my head on a brick wall.........

Went and checked GFK again a telephone call was available for me. This time all was ok and I'm doing it on Thursday. Gives me plenty of time to go through the questionnaire. I'm nervous and excited already lol :)

If you are on income support does that bar you from being a mystery shopper? I get IS, CTC and Child Benefit.
    LBM £18463.32 in debt 10th June 2008,
    £12470.99 in debt 10th June 2009.

I guess you would have to delcare it, as it would affect your benefits. Also, you have to sign to declare you will become self employed with most MS companies.
If I were you I would speak to the tax office/benefits agency asap, the last thing you would want is to be accused of tax or benefit fraud.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hi, Does anyone know about surveys you can do without having to pay a subscription fee? I need to earn extra cash but there are rarely any mystery shopping assigments in my area so I thought I could do surveys. This thread is entitled Mystery Shopping? Surveys? but I can't find the info on surveys.
Just looking for anything I could do evenings and weekends from home like stuffing envelopes, surveys, typing, delivering catalogues even. I've tried to look on gumtree, etc but a lot of jobs are about setting up your own business although sounds nearer to pyramid selling to me! I don't want to risk my own money, I want to make a bit of extra cash. Any suggestions?
