I thought the places list was hilarious. I am reading it thinking every town in Britain has a high street. Yet there is a big town near me called Cumbernauld and another Paisley yet they don't come up on the list.
One of the funniest I ever saw came up on GfK. You know how they put on your available list places in your area. One came up on mine for Stornoway. Now its about a 100 mile drive then 4 hours on a ferry.!!!:rotfl:Plus it is only a little island where everyone know everyone else so don't know how they could get a MS'er there.
BTW There was an article in the paper last week saying Scotland are pioneering MS'ing in Care homes. ???Do I pap my elderly mum in one for a week and see how they treat her. Strange one that. Can't imagine how they are going to operate that. It's for that daft Scottish parliament. Another of their crazy ideas.
I've done care home jobs before (and I'm sure lots of people on here have) and the focus has been on admission - you call and pretend you have a relative who needs admission, and score them on how understanding they are, and whether they send you a brochure....
I bet anything more hands on will be mystery tours where they are trying to sell you admission, and all the horrid things will be hidden as far as they can......Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
I am just back from a pub chain with food which is Uk wide. Girl at bar never smiled, took 5 minutes to even glance at us and then served a guy to our left who already had a pint half drunk. Then we got the "What would you like" with the sort of tone you would use telling you the world is going to blow up any minute.
In Scottish parlance she had a face like "She had just fell down through the lum" (Think Billy Connelly here)
I hat having to report stuff like this especially as in the toilet they have ajob advert with pics of UK wide employees all saying how they love working for this chain and they get bonuses for excellent customer service. There was no cleaning list notice either in the toilet. No fresh flowers on the bar. These are all in the briefing notes.
I once all but got called a liar in a bingo for telling it like it was by the manager who denied everything ie people clogging up the entrance smoking, She said she checked the CCTV and that wasn't true.
But what are we there for if not to report accurately but I hate to think I may get this waitress into trouble.
Oh the joys of MS'ing eh. It's the great support I have had on here from all of you though that makes me feel I am not alone. Your support is invaluable and I thank every one of you.
I have qualms about this too. (I worked in the service industry for 8 years.) I try to describe the server's demenaour rather than criticize them. I say things like 'Phoebe seemed like a pleasant girl but came across as listless/world-weary/beleagured/distracted/proccupied. This made me feel rather uncomfortable.' That way I don't feel too guilty since I then imagine that the server, who may not have realized their emotions are so transparent, has the opportunity to attempt to mask them more effectively. I think some people genuinely don't realize they can affect others since they sometimes see themselves as inconsequential.
However, if they are dismissive, snide, and antagonistic -- they get it in the neck!!Never mash cheese: it bends the fork.0 -
I was so keen to fill out RE's 'Are we good enough?' quizz that I forgot to point out their grammar error in the question:
Are we good enough?
As you know, our clients want to hear about their customers experiences so they can improve the service they provide.
It should be "customers' experiences" -- or possibly "customer's experiences" if they only have one. This may well be the case in some instances -- and I think that's me, mystery shopping them...Never mash cheese: it bends the fork.0 -

I believe there is something wrong with RE's job search since I currently have lots of new places I've never heard of within a few miles from me. Marvellous!!Never mash cheese: it bends the fork.0

Not working for me when I click "available assignments" but if I search assignments and put my town in, they come up.
I've got strange places near me too! I'm in Derbyshire and apparently Southampton has been moved within 11 miles of me - I wonder if anyone's told them they're not on the coast any more! :rotfl:0
