It will really only be worth while if you do a few other jobs at the same time, unfortunatly, if a newbie to Fieldwork, this can be difficult, but once you are registered with a few companies, it should be quite easy to pick up 3 or 4 within the same area. I am SE and live in a small village 12 miles from anywhere (24 mile round trip) and juggling my work carefully, I do make a profit."Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0

Ok need help!!!!
The MS sites i have signed up to offer £5-£10 per assignment, but condisdering most are 10 miles away, is it worth my while to do them and have to declare my (what willl be very small) earnings? Im confused as to how people actually make money if you take petrol costs into account
Or tie them in with when you might be visiting that location anyway, for shopping / visiting friends / work etc?0 -
Doh after singing Gap's praises I've just had a job rescheduled but only got the mail AFTER I'd done it. They've asked me if I can do the new date which I don't think I can. They haven't said this one will be paid. Has this happened to anyone else and did you get paid? Its one of the no fee only reimbursement ones.0

I would imagine you could argue the point with them regarding the reimbursement. You entered a contractual agreement with them to complete the work at particular time and date, which you have done. You have therefore upheld your end of the agreement. They would be quick enough to penalise you if you did not complete on time. I hope you manage to get reimbursed!0

Another question about the tax return.
Fee for job: £3
max reinbursement for job expenses instore: £5
actual spend on job expenses: £6
Does this extra £1 come out of your fee or not?

I don't think so unless you could demonstrate that it was impossible to spend just £5.00 ie reimbursement say £5 but job requires £6 spend or minimum spend £5 but no item under £6.
PS a) Should emphasise I'm not sure prob best to wait till Timmne is up and b) assuming you mean can you claim the whole £6 as an expense or just the £5.0 -
Are there any other companies, aside from those on the first page of this thread who people would recommend?0
-
I'm up!
Yeah I would just claim the £5 unless as redcar says, it was impossible for you to only spend £6.
Just means you're not giving yourself any perks above and beyond the perks you're already getting, which is what the revenue would prefer to see.
If you think of it another way, if you'd have spent £20 on a reimbursement of £5 then you've effectively reduced your taxable income by £15 just by buying yourself something nice! This isn't something HMRC would like to see.0 -

Still happy with GAP, sent a mail to query things and they phoned to say I would get paid.0 -
Please be aware of the website outage on the 5th, I have just rescheduled any work I have on the 4th, 5th, and the 6th so I would not need to access the website on those days.
