Going abroad on holidays while being on furlough?

I have been on a furlough since April and want to go on holidays abroad while being on furlough.
Can I go on holidays whilst being on furlough without using my annual leave and informing the employer ? How would they find out if I don't request annual leave and keep the annual leave for another time later in the year . While being on furlough no one is checking on me and I am thinking it doesn't matter if I spend a week at the Peak district or 2 weeks in the beach . Isn't this my personal time ?

You aren't going anywhere on holiday for quite a while at the moment. By the time that you can, furlough will be over and you will be back at work6

No - it’s the tax payers time as they are paying for you to sit around all day living it up.
Your employer can request that you return to work tomorrow if they wish.
As for going on holiday during lockdown - stop being silly - you sound like one of those idiots that I DONT want applauding me every thu night6 -
I am not going now but in a few months . So the answer is yes I can go without taking my annual leave ? Surely they cant expect everyone to stay locked at home from March till October .0

How will you explain to your employer that you cant restart work on Monday for him because you are in Benidorm?dhjb said:I am not going now but in a few months . You be back in work way before October or jobless3

Rereading the OP and from the sounds of it he is talking about a UK holiday. I mean assuming things open back up you could try, but your employer may give you minimal notice to go back and you would have to cut it short.0

They mention abroad then start talking about the Peak district.
Taking reluctantly at face value:
OP just because you can be furloughed doesn't mean you will continue to be. Your employer could let you go, and there is also an expectation that those still furloughed will start back part time from August.
What is your job?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hopefully not a geography teacher3

This is not your personal time - this is your employer's time and they could ask you back to work at any time and with no notice. This is easily remembered if considering the proper name for the furlough scheme - CJRS = Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.dhjb said:I have been on a furlough since April and want to go on holidays abroad while being on furlough.

If you want to take annual leave, the correct thing to do is to book that annual leave as you would do at any normal time and your employer will know you are not available to immediately call you back into work at that time, for perfectly valid reason.
Whatever you hope to do and wherever you plan to travel, you also need to take note of travel restrictions in force here and wherever your destination might be.
The answer is "no". We are not being expected to stay locked at home, assuming you have not received the 'shielding' letter. We are being asked to restrict our travel and social activities and to maintain social distancing.dhjb said:I am not going now but in a few months . I do hope we don't see a thread on here just after the summer "I booked my holiday in May for September and now I cant get a refund, but half the stuff was all closed and there was quarantine and I think it's unfair, after all no-one could see that coming."5 -
Holidays are NOT essential travel away from home.
When we are allowed to go on holiday, whether in the UK or abroad, nobody is going to be on furlough including you @dhjb"All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."
