I made my case in the post already by saying:AW618 said:
I never said you should or shouldn't say anything. I asked you what you think is a good attitude for this forum. I know it's called "Money saving expert" but it has many sections, including consumer rights and others. If you want to have logical arguments put against you you need to do something more than assert your opinion. Why should this forum not have posts in it from people who don't spend every waking moment trying to save 50 pence at the expense of hours of their time? Make some sort of a case and I will reply. And "but it's called Money Saving Expert" is a bad argument, so something other than that, please.Takmon said:
No i said "that's just a poor attitude to have on a money saving forum" (if you use quotations marks then your supposed to quote the actual textAW618 said:
You do realise that it was you telling me my post was the "wrong attitude for this forum", yes? You have just argued against yourself. Well done.Takmon said:
You do realise that the whole purpose of a forum is for people with different opinions on a subject to have discussions and a good discussion happens when each person gives the reasons for their point of view and why they may agree or disagree with certain points.AW618 said:
I am terribly sorry. Perhaps you can give a list of the attitudes which you allow, so people who don't share all your beliefs can avoid posting here. I presume you own the forum.Takmon said:Well that's just a poor attitude to have on a money saving forum if your not willing to spend even 10 minutes preparing the food or even a few minutes emailing them to get a refund. The OP didn't even go back into the store they have contacted them online and got offered £10 worth of points with minimal effort and certainly didn't need to take it back.
I can never understand people like you who seem to think it's a problem when people don't share the same opinion on a subject.
) and i explained why i had that opinion in the following sentences of that post.
You then replied sarcastically saying i shouldn't have made a comment like that unless i owned the forum, when instead you could have replied in a logical manner explaining why you disagreed with the points i was making.
The fact that your reply was entirely sarcastic and didn't dispute any of the points i made shows that you got a bit annoyed because you were unable to come up with a rational argument.
"Well that's just a poor attitude to have on a money saving forum if your not willing to spend even 10 minutes preparing the food or even a few minutes emailing them to get a refund. The OP didn't even go back into the store they have contacted them online and got offered £10 worth of points with minimal effort and certainly didn't need to take it back."
So let's say the fish cost £5 and we know the OP was offered points to the value of £10, it would have taken 10 minutes of food preparation and 5 minutes maximum to send a couple emails. So for 15 minutes of time you get £15 of value and learn a new cooking skill, but your saying that isn't worth it and you would just throw it in the bin and forget about it.
That's an effective rate of £60 an hour which is a lot more that 50p for several hours work as you mentioned. The majority of people in the country don't get anywhere near £60 an hour for their job so seems like a pretty good use of time to me.
So throwing the fish away and doing nothing just because you don't want too is not a very money saving attitude (but i didn't say you shouldn't post on this forum i'm just saying it's not a good attitude to have). Little things like that soon add up and save a lot of money over the years with minimal effort.0 -
I'd have been gutted if this had happened to me.Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???1

Not by the OP though0

I don't know, even if its boil in the bag, I'd kindof use my eyes and see that a whole fish without any slice to it couldn't possibly have been gutted. Then I'd raise eyes skyward and gut it myself, its common sense really. If you want to eat it and something's not quite as you expected, you remedy it or stay hungry. If vegan, I'm not sure what difference it makes if the fishmonger guts the fish or yourself.., those guts still need to be removed. Or just don't eat fish.0

A friend buys trout from Sainsbury's Tesco etc fish counter. Anytime I have been shopping with her and she buys fish she has always been asked if she wants the fish cleaned? She says yes and it is done at the counter and then put in the cook in the bag for her

I was married to an old trout once.
I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.0
