But I don't want to know how. I have no interest in doing it. No reason why I should, is there? So if someone sells me a fish that needs gutting when I have asked for one that doesn't, they should refund me if asked. I am under no obligation to do something I don't want to do, however easy you think it is. If they thought everyone was happy doing it they wouldn't sell pre-gutted fish.LilElvis said:

You have the right to not gut the fish and the right to your money back on this mistake .Its not a health hazard .The store have offered reasonable compensation but you want a lot more compo .3

The best way to descale is to cut a carrot crosswise so it has a blade and a point, then simply rub across. If you do it in the sink you can collect the scales after. If you've got a cat spoon out the guts, cook them and you'll have a contented !!!!!!.

Well you obviously are squeamish if you are unable to gut fish before dinner and the thought of it put you both off dinner that night. Personally i would have found it annoying that i had to do extra preparation work due to their mistake and would have contacted them and expected a refund but i still would have prepared and eaten the fish so that it wasn't wasted.MollyKz said:I purchased 3 trout from the fresh fish counter of my local Morrisons. I can never understand how some people are happy to eat animals but if they think about how they are killed and prepared somehow puts them off their food???3 -
Well if you end up with a fish that needs gutting then it's worth spending a couple minutes watching a video and doing it so then you can actually eat it otherwise your just going to throw it away which is such a waste!. Obviously you would still expect a refund in that case but to just throw perfectly good food away because you are unwilling to prepare it is ridiculous.AW618 said:

No, it isn't worth that. I don't want to do it, therefore I won't. If I wanted chicken, opened the package and found it was fish I would throw the fish away, without any worry about "wasting the food". I am not going to put myself out to salvage somebody else's mistake. In reality I would just throw it away and not ask for a refund, because the time it would take me to go to the shop and ask for one is worth far more to me than the price of the fish, but if you did want to complain then good luck with complaining about something you have already eaten. Was it a ready sealed bag that you picked up off the counter?
